There are no words that can fully encompass how much I have loved and enjoyed the last five years owning Forth View Veterinary Acupuncture Clinics.

I sit here, with this song by DeVotchKa on a loop- George cooried under my chin and mopping up my tears- because it feels so truly apt; The Winner Is…me, of course!

Every day I would wake up so grateful to have a job that I am so passionate about, and thankful for all of the wonderful pets I was given the opportunity to meet and help. It never felt like work, it was just joy. And how can that not be the biggest win in life?

And what are pets without their incredible people to bring them along to see me?! I am so lucky to have had all of my wonderful clients supporting me along the way. Thank you for being kind, compassionate, funny, curious and the biggest advocates for your pets. I always said that I have the best clients, and it is, and always will be, true. There was no business without you. Thank you for allowing me to grow the business year on year with your unwavering support so that it could go from my wee side hustle to my main job. None of it would have been possible without you and I’m eternally grateful.

I can’t believe I was so lucky to have met Jane Hunter five years ago, at a time of transition in both of our lives’. A chance introduction opened the page to the best chapter of my life. Thank you for trusting me and encouraging me to take a leap of faith. Alongside my husband, you both always reassured me to keep pushing and being the best I could be. This has been my favourite squiggly path on my non linear career journey.

I am so happy that Adele has taken over the clinics and is absolutely flying it. She is one of the most compassionate and caring people in my life and I couldn’t think of anyone better to take over. I know that every pet is in the safest and kindest hands with Adele.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has supported me and my wee business over the years. I am so proud of what it has become today. I say goodbye on such a high and with so much love in my heart,

Amy 🐾

✨5 years✨ of Forth View Veterinary Acupuncture Clinics 🎊

Five years ago, I took over acupuncture clinics from Jane. It was such a privilege to be given this opportunity.

It was my side hustle at the time, offering two clinics a week, alongside my full time job. Over the years, the business has expanded, now offering five clinics a week, often with the evening clinics being overbooked! And now, acupuncture is my primary job!

Acupuncture has given me a purpose and connection with pets and their owners that I never got to experience in practice. It’s such a relaxing and rewarding way to work with the most wonderful clients. Pets enjoy coming in for their acupuncture sessions (and treats!!) and I get to enjoy wee chat with their owners, it’s great!

Without every single one of my clients, past and present, expanding the business wouldn’t have been possible. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your continued support, for recommending me on your dog walks, for telling your friends, family and colleagues how well your pet has been doing since starting acupuncture. Without all of you, it would still be a side hustle.

Thank you to local veterinary colleagues who continue to refer to me and recommend acupuncture to their patients. Your support and kindness is never taken for granted.

Owning a small business comes with its own challenges but I wouldn’t change the last five years for anything. It’s a pleasure and privilege to be a part of every single pets’ care and a joy to do a job that I love.

Big thanks from me and Skye 🐾

Joule came for an assessment after her owner had noticed she seemed a bit more hesitant jumping up and slightly stiffer.

Joule has a history of disc disease but well managed with physiotherapy and a recent left sided head tilt and vision impairment in the left eye.

When we had a look over Joule, it was noticed that her left neck was really tense with a tight muscle band. This was suspected due to the head tilt causing compensatory tension.

Needles were placed in the left neck along with down the back and over the hips where there was also a stiffness noted.

Joule’s owner messaged the next day with these photos- the first is Joule on the beach before her acupuncture and the next two photos are the day after!! Her head tilt had massively improved and almost fully resolved!

We weren’t sure if the head tilt was related to the vision loss and when this started, she had started to tilt her head to compensate but this resulted in tight muscles in the neck meaning it was harder to get back to a normal head position.

We were delighted to see these photos and really didn’t expect such an incredible response, especially after just one treatment!

Hopefully Joule is feeling much more comfortable in her neck now ☺️🐾

Tandem collie acupuncture 👯🌟

Lynday and Jackson attend their appointments together- Lynday for her arthritis and Jackson for his back pain.

They’re both very food focused so it’s easier to do their sessions at the same time rather than split them.

They’re both doing really well and the acupuncture has helped to reduce muscle tension, reduce swelling and improve mobility. The endorphins really hit Jackson this week and he had to have a wee lie down and forty winks.

They both like to take trips away with their owner in the their motorhome so making sure they’re on top form for their holidays is a must!! 🌞🌳

Legend has it, Misty brings turnips to her acupuncture appointments 🫜🫶🏻

Misty loves a snack during her treatments. The first appointment she had, her owner said she doesn’t like or take treats from strangers but when offered a Schmacko, she scoffed it!!

Misty used to live on a livery yard when she was younger and turnips were one of her favourite snacks. She gets one during her appointment as I am a big believer in making sure their treatments are as positive as can be! This is how we get pets happily run and pull in to the rooms. It’s nice to be liked.

Misty is a superstar and the acupuncture has been helping with her back and hip stiffness. I love having her in and helping improve her mobility 🌟

✨Arwen✨ has been receiving acupuncture with us to help her with a disc issue.

Arwen’s disc issue has caused rare signs that cause her to have weakness in her back legs and rigidity in her front legs (Schiff-Sherrington Syndrome) due to problems with the discs in her neck.

She has been receiving acupuncture which helps relieve the stiffness and rigidity in her front legs so that they are able to bend better. This in turn helps her movements. Relieving the stiffness means she is able to do her physiotherapy and hydrotherapy better to continue to build strength in her back legs.

Arwen is always very good during her treatments, especially because the there are always lots of treats to eat!! 🐾

A photo memory of my first elderly dog came up today- Mitzi 💞

I rehomed Mitzi when I was three months qualified as a vet and she was 15 years old. Everyone thought I was bonkers but I couldn’t bear the thought of her spending the last of her best years in kennels.

When Mitzi retired with me, she was really stiff and although she loved her walks, she couldn’t get very far. I started her on an anti-inflammatory pain relief and she was like a new dog!! It was incredible how something so small to me, made such a big difference to her.

We only had six months together but Mitzi taught me so much in that short time. She taught me compassion and the true meaning of quality of life.

She stirred up my passion for pain management and advocating for the oldies. Everything I do now is down to Mitz. Every time I see a patient improving with acupuncture, medication or just even small house adaptations, I give a wee nod to Mitzi 🩷

She was the best dog and I’m so grateful for the time we had together. She made me the vet I am today✨ 🐾

Misty started acupuncture with us last year after her owner noticed that she was twitching down her back more when they patted her.

We noted that Misty had a lot of tension in her back and reduced movement in her hips and so we focused on these areas during her treatment.

After only one session, Misty’s owners noticed improvements! She now lies down squarely instead of flicking her legs out to one side and is now playing with the younger dog in the house; something that Misty has never done since she was adopted!!

After every session her posture and gait improved further and her pain reduced even more. We are all so delighted to see such a big improvement in Misty and her owners are loving seeing a side of Misty they’ve never seen before! 🐾
