Smashing article by Katie Grant on the waiting lists in some parts of the UK. I Have Opinions about this, it’s rather gratifying to get them in print. NHS staff are overstretched in normal times, and these are not normal times, but the lack of service provision for women’s health creates a drain on the public purse. Ignoring birth injury or menopausal gynae symptoms doesn’t seem to have been a terribly effective approach. Pelvic health physio is hugely effective and cheap as chips. We need a health economist to work out how much money we save the NHS. There is a figure that for every pound the NHS spends on physio for falls rehab it saves £1.50. I reckon pelvic health physio is x10 that. Women who wet themselves, poo themselves or have prolapse are more likely to have mood disorders, diseases of inactivity, sexual dysfunctions and, if they are older, fall. Hurrying to the toilet, innit? The biggest cause of premature death in women in industrialised countries is coronary heart disease. The best cure for that is exercise. But if you p**s yourself in Zumba you don’t tend to go back to Zumba, do you? This is an easily solved public health issue and you are recruited into it, so, .
