So, turns out training for a marathon is no joke eh๐Ÿฅด. Itโ€™s been a mental, emotional, & spiritual journey thatโ€™s cracked open some longheld negative beliefs about myself.

Iโ€™ve spent a lot of time believing that I donโ€™t show up for myself. I often overcommit, inevitably fall short, and then Iโ€™m like cool ๐˜ธ๐˜ฉ๐˜บ ๐˜ด๐˜ฉ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ญ๐˜ฅ ๐˜ ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฐ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ ๐˜ต๐˜ณ๐˜บ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ? Perfectionism, guilty as charged๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ. If it canโ€™t be perfect, itโ€™s not worth doing. That mindset has kept me stuck for a long time.

For the past 6 months, Iโ€™ve been running 3 times a week. (Starting from zero by the way to absolute hero๐Ÿฆธโ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿคฃ). And Iโ€™ve been forced to confront these old narratives and realised just how much theyโ€™ve been limiting me.

At one point, I missed a run because I was extremely hungover ๐Ÿคข & what stood out most in this moment was just how much I berated myself for it & how much I genuinely believed that Iโ€™d blown the whole thing. That ๐˜โ€™๐˜ฅ ๐˜ง๐˜ข๐˜ช๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฅโ€ฆ because Iโ€™d missed one run.

๐˜‰๐˜ญ๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ฌ ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ ๐˜ธ๐˜ฉ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ฆ ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ฌ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ has kind of plagued me for much of my life, and here it was again, loud and clear. Despite desperately wanting to quit, I didnโ€™t throw in the towel, and that tiny act of continuing was actually a huge deal for me.

This marathon is about so much more than the 26.2 miles. Itโ€™s about me proving to myself that Iโ€™m ๐˜ต๐˜ณ๐˜ถ๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ธ๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜บ, that I ๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ฏ, & I ๐˜ธ๐˜ช๐˜ญ๐˜ญ show up for myself. That progress doesnโ€™t require perfection. That making mistakes is part of the process and doesnโ€™t mean I should stop trying altogether.

Iโ€™ll share more soon, but for now Iโ€™m just holding a lot of ๐˜จ๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ถ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ for how far Iโ€™ve come, and nervous energy for whatโ€™s ahead tomorrow.

I feel so full of LOVE. ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป

Iโ€™ve had the most incredible weekend, immersed in nature and surrounded by beautiful women. Connecting deeply through kundalini yoga, ceremonial cacao, cold dips, ecstatic dancing, and truly meaningful conversations. ๐Ÿ’–

Iโ€™m deeply grateful for the healing Iโ€™ve experienced. Coming together with a group of women and connecting soulfully has been unbelievably powerful and transformative for me
๐ŸŒŒ ๐Ÿ˜ญ.

Iโ€™ve felt heard.
Iโ€™ve felt seen.
Iโ€™ve felt accepted in all of my entirety.
Accepted in my rawest vulnerabilities.

This remembrance of who we are makes me come ALIVE.

Itโ€™s like Iโ€™ve been dazed, confused, anxious, even depressedโ€ฆand now, Iโ€™m finally coming back home to myself & reclaiming my inner peace.๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

Iโ€™ve spent time facing some really difficult insecurities particularly around not feeling chosen or wanted. But this weekend, I realised: ๐˜ ๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ท๐˜ฆ ๐˜ต๐˜ฐ ๐˜ค๐˜ฉ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฐ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ ๐˜ฎ๐˜บ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ญ๐˜ง . And I do.
Now, I feel chosen because I choose ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ.๐Ÿ’—

In solitude, I felt peace.
In silliness and joy, I felt peace.
That is life. And that is ME!๐Ÿงš๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Iโ€™ve tried fitting myself into a box, playing the serious yogi, which has helped me through a lot of personal challenges and mental health struggles. And while there is value in the solitude and seriousness, it didnโ€™t always lead me to deep connection.

Now, I feel like Iโ€™m stepping into a new phase: one of joy, lightness, love, laughter and UTTER NONSENSE. Iโ€™m so grateful I canโ€™t stop happy crying! ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜„

I SWAM IN A LOCH BY MYSELFโ€ฆ like what? (10 strokes lmao)

I feel reconnected to myself, to others, and to God. โœจ

We are divine beings, and the connection Iโ€™ve found over these past few days feels truly life-changing. I sense a massive shift, and while my words may fall short, my heart is overflowing with gratitude.๐Ÿ™

Why Kundalini Yoga?๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธโ“

When people find out I teach yoga, the first thing they often say is, โ€œOh, you must be so flexible. I couldnโ€™t do thatโ€”Iโ€™m not flexible!โ€ Flexibility is often associated with yoga, but itโ€™s important to understand that flexibility isnโ€™t the point of the kind of yoga I teach. ๐Ÿ™‚

In fact, my flexibility comes from years of training in various disciplines, not yoga. I began as a ballet dancer, focusing on discipline and perfect form. This love for dance led me to study it in college, perform abroad, and eventually become a teacher. Dance, along with extreme flexibility and aerial arts, was a huge part of my life. But these practices often placed heavy emphasis on how things looked and achieving perfection.โœจ

Thatโ€™s where Kundalini Yoga comes inโ€”a style that often leads to questions like, โ€œKunda-what? Did you say Kundalini?โ€ ๐Ÿ‘€

Yes, Kundalini. Itโ€™s a type of yoga very different from the physical styles most people know. Kundalini is an introspective journey, deeply focused on meditation and spiritual growth. But donโ€™t let that fool youโ€”itโ€™s also physically demanding, with kriyas (exercises) that challenge your endurance and strength in ways you wouldnโ€™t expect.

So why Kundalini? For me, itโ€™s all about freedom. ๐Ÿฆ… โค๏ธ

Kundalini shifts the focus from external perfection to internal growth and connection. Itโ€™s a space where I can just be. ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿปโœจ

As someone who has spent a lifetime as a dancer and later as an aerialist, I was used to striving for precision, technique, and flawless ex*****on. While these practices are beautiful, they come with constant pressure to look perfect, and over time, that took a toll on my mental health. I struggled with endless self-critique, feeling like I wasnโ€™t โ€œgood enough,โ€ and constantly overanalyzing my performance. ๐Ÿ˜”

Kundalini Yoga became my sanctuary from that pressure. It doesnโ€™t matter what you look like in Kundalini because much of the practice is done with your eyes closed. The focus isnโ€™t on perfection, but on your own internal experience. Itโ€™s about tuning into your energy and spirit, and embracing the journey, wherever it takes you. ๐ŸŒ€

For me, Kundalini Yoga is more than just a practiceโ€”itโ€™s a tool for healing, self-acceptance, and spiritual discovery. It reminds me that presence, not perfection, is what matters. And thatโ€™s why Iโ€™m so passionate about teaching it.

Beyond my personal experience, Kundalini has introduced me to a wonderful community. At the end of each class, thereโ€™s often time for sharing, and these conversations and connections have become just as meaningful as the practice itself. ๐Ÿฉท

We sang moon songs, immersed ourselves in a sound bath led by the talented Mairead Wyse, and practiced a Kundalini Kriya focused on harnessing the full moonโ€™s energy. The energy was electric, and Iโ€™m looking forward to creating more events like this.

Hi everyone, Iโ€™m Sarah!

I am so excited to embark on this Kundalini Yoga journey with all of you. For those who donโ€™t know me, I have been passionate about yoga for many years and have found Kundalini Yoga to be a deeply transformative practice. My mission is to create a welcoming and supportive space for everyone, whether youโ€™re a seasoned yogi or just beginning your journey.
