*Due to staffing levels we may not have reception cover on these days while we are with patients in surgery- please leave a message. We aim to see dental emergencies on the same day- please call as early as possible from 9am to ensure we can arrange dental care

Sugar awareness week

There's alot going with fruity and apparently healthy products aimed at infants. The link on this post by first step nutrition is very eye opening as to the sugar content and misleading advertising of infant snacks.
As I've mentioned before, dried or purèed fruit is not such a good choice for your little ones. Try and stick to whole fresh fruit (not juices or smoothies), savoury snacks like breadsticks, crackers or cheese, and milk or water for drinks.

Sugar is hiding everywhere, but at Chu’s Dental Care we try to make people aware of how they can make choices to limit amount, and more importantly frequency of the intake of free sugars which cause tooth decay.

This weeks campaign by Action on Sugar has called for mandatory clear and honest front-of-pack labelling for snacks aimed at children. We need better regulation of marketing of so-called ‘healthy’ snacks for children. Companies are currently misleading parents and carers into thinking they are making healthy food choices.

CORONOVIRUS UPDATE 21/05/2021

Whilst you will notice other settings start to open up at corovirus restrictions start to lift , there are still a lot of restrictions on dental practice for patient and staff safety. Limiting numbers inside the building, coronovirus protocols for most treatment procedures and increased cleaning times for all clinical and public areas mean we are still at a very reduced capacity for appointments.

Checkups: We are still being kept very busy with emergency and urgent treatments, although we have started to see other routine treatments as required as we are now able to carry out the full range of routine dental treatment. We endeavour to carry out full examinations for anyone that comes for an emergency appointment, and if you have any issues at all please call the practice on 01383727771. The reality is that there is a long wait time for exams and an even longer waiting time for treatment. If you are not having any issues please continue to wait until we contact you for a checkup if you can, priority for exam appointments will be for those with any problems (toothache, lost fillings, fractures teeth, sensitivity, bleeding gums) and for children.

At this present time we regret we are not able to take on new patients for routine care, if you are an unregistered patient with a dental emergency, please call NHS 24 on 111 in the first instance.

The Dental Practice is closed again today due to the snow. We can't get the team safely in.

The phones are still being manned, Please call 01383727771 if you need any help. The urgent dental centres can still see limited emergencies.

Update 05/01/2021

Firstly, Happy New Year to all our patients! We hope you all managed to have a good festive period despite the restrictions.

Quick update following the latest update from the first minister:

We will remain open and are still able to provide NHS and private treatments as we have been doing previously as dental treatment is deemed essential. We are still working at reduced capacity due to covid regulations/ increased cleaning times which ultimately means we have longer waiting times than we would like.

As before, our priority is emergency and urgent care so please give the practice a phone if you have any concerns.

We completely respect those that may wish to reschedule their appointment due to the new lockdown, but we cant emphasise enough that we work in a very safe environment due to the mountains of PPE some of you will have seen us in! (Call us astronauts/darth vaders cousin!)
