🤩Hash browns🤩
In our brilliant cookbook, Air Fryers & friends
we nailed the Free hash brown! It took a bit of (admittedly quite tasty) trial and error, but we can confirm this is how to get them crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle.
🥔Ingredients 🥔
⭐️400g can new potatoes in water, drained (if your can is a different size, you’ll need about ⭐️275g drained potatoes)
⭐️350g floury potatoes, such as Maris Piper or King Edward, peeled
⭐️1 medium onion, coarsely grated
⭐️Low-calorie cooking spray
🤩Method🤩
⭐️Put the canned potatoes in a large bowl and crush with a fork or masher – you’re aiming for what looks like very lumpy mash. Coarsely grate the fresh potatoes into a clean, dry tea towel. Wring out as much liquid as you can, then tip them into the mash. Add the onion and a little seasoning, then get your hands in there and give everything a good mix.
⭐️Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions. Shape each portion into a rectangle about 7cm x 5cm and 2cm thick. Any loose strands of potato can be squidged back in (we believe that’s the technical term).
⭐️Preheat your air fryer to 200°C. Line the air fryer basket with baking paper and add 4 hash browns. Spray them with low-calorie cooking spray and cook for 15-20 minutes or until golden and cooked, turning halfway. Set aside on a plate and cover with foil. Repeat to cook the rest of the hash browns, returning the first batch for a few minutes to warm them back up.
⭐️These are amazing with a splash of tomato ketchup (1 swip per level tbsp), as part of a cooked breakfast – or with just about anything, to be honest.
