Diagnostics!
Its been almost a full week of diagnostic work, some mechanical repairs also.
Mercedes E-Vito in for service, with front discs and pads replaced also.
Dacia Duster in for no power steering, these run an elctro-hydraulic pump, after testing the wiring it all checked out to be ok, leaving the pump at fault. 12v battery had also failed a battery test. Replacement remanufactured steering pump and a new battery fitted!
Hyundai i40 in for poor cabin heating, vehicle was ran upto temperature and confirmed pipes were all getting hot, the heater matrix was warm on the intake and cold on the output, this is due to these 1.7crdi being very thermal efficient, so much so that hyundai implemented a cabin PTC heater to aid in the heating of the cabin. Upon testing it was found to have melted one of the contacts in the connector and body of the PTC, hence the poor cabin heating due to the failed elements in the heater.
Renault Captur in for no interior fan/blowers, wiring tested on this one which was rather awkward due to the placement of the motor behind the dash, a poor connection at the motor caused it to not work at all, once this was rectified the motor was back working again, just not at full strength, a replacement motor was advised for this one but at least in the short term there is some air flow coming out the vents.
Range rover evoque in for a creaking noise when turning, upon inspection it was found to have a broken spring on the front, this must have only just happened due to the clean fracture surface not having time to become corroded yet. New spring sourced and this one was back on the road in no time!
Audi S3 in for a poor clutch pedal, whilst the pedal on this was ok, it just wasnt overly great, full brake fluid change on clutch and all four brakes had this one with a brilliant clutch and brake pedal again.
Honda CR-V with front windscreen washers not working, this one threw me a curveball, initially upon testing found the pump to be working and both the front jets blocked, replacement set of dual jets fitted and all was working ok at the front. The rear jet also wasnt working, when attempting to unblock the jet and pipe, there was "black stringy stuff" blocking the jet and line. What I didn't realise, was the one way valve in the washer pump had failed, this allowed the "black stringy stuff" to block the new front jets. Customer supplied a replacement pump and the jets were cleared again, allowing the front washers to work again, unfortunately the rear jet was still not working and would require further investigation.
Kia Sportage recovered in with suspected engine failure, upon inspection this one wasnt great, metal filings and chunks in the sump mean this engine and turbo are past repair. Reconditioned engine and turbo sourced for this and due to be fitted once arrived.
