Not our usual post, but I had a very positive conversation with a patient earlier talking about how amazing our bodies are at adapting and overcoming. It got me thinking about the story of a local man Brian Gault (whom I’ve never met). Brian was born without arms due to the then recommended drug to expectant mother’s Thalidomide.

Some of you may have heard Brian before, but what about this for adapting and overcoming!

➡️Often it’s not just ‘bad luck’, it’s things like returning too soon, sudden changes in training load, or assuming pain-free means ready.

➡️ Rehab isn’t just about symptoms settling. It’s about rebuilding tolerance, strength, and confidence in the tissue so you can return safely.

🎓🎓🌟🌟 Double congratulations to Hannah and Owen, who both graduated yesterday getting their Masters in Sports and Exercise Medicine from ! They’ve both worked hard balancing further study with clinic and were all super proud! Well done guys! 🤩

(That’s all of our physios qualified to a minimum of Masters level….if we do say so ourselves!! ☺️).

Our patient presented with a painful, swollen elbow after a relatively minor trauma.

What’s your diagnosis? 🤔 (Answer Below ⬇️)

🩻 Ultrasound findings:
• Bursae distension
• Synovial proliferation
• Increased hyperaemia on Doppler

💡 Answer: Olecranon bursitis

Thankfully already improving and no infection signs as this can be septic…so no antibiotics and conservative management advised ✅
