In July Amanda Seal returned to Rosalyn House to sing and perform for us. Our residents loved singing and dancing along.
This was followed by our annual jumble sale. We raised £115.00 in total.
Next Gavan Clarke played his guitar and sang familiar songs to our residents.
Unfortunately, the minibus we to use for our trips has broken down and is now awaiting repairs so we took our residents out into the local community instead.
We went to Costa, Morrisons, Library, Church and ‘The Chequers pub’.
We still hope to go to Woburn Zoo and the seaside in September when the minibus is fixed.
The canal trip is definitely going ahead in September as planned as we use different transport for that.
We hope to see you at the Fete on 24th August at 2pm for a fun filled afternoon 🎈🍔 🍾🍰🧁🎈

08/08/2025

We are holding our Annual Summer Fete at Rosalyn House on Sunday 24th August from 2pm.

We have a fun filled afternoon planned including a variety of stalls & a performance by Elvis to keep us all entertained!

Please feel free to join us & enjoy a bbq as well as a range of stalls including raffle, tombola and wine or water! (and many more)

We kindly ask for your support with donations especially towards our raffle and wine for the popular stand!

All donations made will go directly towards an interactive rainbow table for all of our residents to enjoy

We look forward to seeing you there 😀

In June Mike and Lou performed their ‘Palm Trees and Pineapples show🌴🍍
Our residents thought their show was highly amusing, very entertaining and their costumes were wonderful.
We also celebrated King Charles’s birthday followed by Fathers Day. The delicious cakes were made by our chef Alina 👏.
We also had a visit from the ice cream man which was sent to us by Central Bedfordshire Council. Needless to say the ice creams were delicious! 🍦🍦🍦

On 8th May we celebrated the 80th Anniversary of VE Day with Leyla. She sang all the wartime songs, our residents joined in and had a wonderful time. This was followed by a lovely buffet.
We asked our residents where they would like to go on a trip and the majority chose a garden centre. Our Manager Shelly drove the minibus to Dobbies in Bletchley. Our residents had a great time looking at all the plants bringing back memories of when they used to tend to their own gardens.
Then our carers Beth and Louise suggested we trial a holistic and pampering afternoon. This included crystals, tarot and angel cards, foot spa, massager and face masks. It was a lovely relaxing experience for our residents. Thank you ladies👏👏
Next we took our residents to Jordan’s Mill in Biggleswade. We had lovely afternoon walking around the gardens in the sunshine followed by coffee and cake (of course) 🫖☕️🍰

We started our Easter celebrations with singing from Thomas Whitehead schoolchildren. A few of the residents were left teary-eyed by the end of their performance . To show our appreciation all 26 children received an Easter egg.
(It is a shame, but understandable, that we are unable to take/show photos of the children due to GDPR).
Next Amanda Seal performed for us. Our residents enjoyed singing along to all the well known songs.
On Good Frinday we served hot cross buns and they went down a treat.
On Easter Sunday we gave all our residents an Easter egg. This was followed by Afternoon Tea and cakes.
April has seen some glorious weather so we took advantage of this by taking our residents out into the community, going to the local shops followed by a coffee and cake at Costa and the Smoothie Bar. We also took our residents around the gardens at Houghton Hall Park.

March activities included Mike and Lou performing for us. They really are great and deliver a brilliant performance every single time 👏👏👏.
On pancake day at 3pm our residents had pancakes and all the toppings they could want were available 🥞. Lent followed and we asked our residents what they have ever given up for Lent. Next was International Women’s Day, we asked residents what advice would they give to the young women of today.
Mother’s Day began with salon pampering and manicure and polish for the ladies followed by Afternoon Tea for all residents and their families.
St Patrick’s Day was celebrated with singing, dancing and buffet food/cake

We would like to say a massive ‘THANK YOU’ to the family of Stephen Smith who raised a whopping £725 by collecting donations for our Resident’s Fund.
Stephen lived with us from 03/12/2022 until 30/01/2025.
His family wanted to donate this money because they were really happy with the care/ attention he received and all the activities that he loved to be involved in.
Stephen’s family would like the money raised to go towards a Sensory Touchscreen Table.
Once again, we thank you for your generous gift and all your support at our events at Rosalyn House ❤️###

February started with arts and crafts, baking, manicure/polish and pampering activities.
We celebrated Valentine’s Day💘with a special lunch prepared by our chef Alina 👏Followed by a great performance from George Anthony Junior singing rat pack songs plus other songs from the past. Our residents really enjoyed his singing and would like to see him again ❤️
We made chocolate covered strawberries🍓had a cheese and wine afternoon 🧀🍷, did mocktail making 🍹sensory activities, board games, sport activities, reminiscing and many more activities throughout the month.
A big ‘Thank You’ to the lady that donated lots of costume jewellery, the ladies love choosing which one they will wear each day.
Just one more thing to mention - we are hoping to hold a ‘Jumble Sale’ this year but can’t do it without everyone’s support so please donate your unwanted items including china, vases, gift sets, clothes, bags, shoes and toys. Many thanks 🙏😀

Just a few of the many activities we did in December 2024 included making salt dough tree decorations 🎄☃️❄️, Christmas card making, Christmas pampering and manicure/polish, making cookies and mince pies.
I would like to thank everyone who brought in colouring books & crayons for Beth who was collecting on behalf of the sick children at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital. She collected and wrapped 50 sets in total. Well done Beth 👏
We also had a ‘Guess the Name of the Teddy Bear’ game. The winner was Hudson - Grandson of one of our residents. He was thrilled with it! (Proceeds went to our Residents funds).
We also did a free raffle for all our staff that work tirelessly throughout the year providing care in many ways for our residents and throughly deserve a mention 📣👍👏
I would also like to thank the ‘Owners of Rosalyn House’, the Mayor of Houghton Regis for their lovely gifts this Christmas. Also, to the lady (sadly I didn’t get her name) who came as as a representative of to ask if they could buy a present for the few of our residents that have no family or friends. Your kindness and generosity are greatly appreciated ❤️
