You may remember a few weeks back that as part of our 150 Days of Volunteering, our colleague Claire's mother Wendy knitted 150 hats which were donated to Luton and Dunstable University Hospital ’s neonatal unit 👏

We were so pleased to have received the following thank you
message from the team at the hospital, who said:

“On behalf of the entire team at Luton & Dunstable Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and especially the families in our NICU, we want to extend our deepest and most sincere thanks for your incredibly kind donation of knitted hats. Your generosity, time and dedication in crafting these tiny treasures is truly appreciated.

“The hats you’ve provided are not just beautiful and warm, they are a vital part of the care we offer to our premature babies. They help to prevent hypothermia, a concern for these little ones, plus provide a sense of comfort and security during a challenging time.

"Beyond the practical benefits, the love and care woven into each stitch is deeply felt by our staff and the families we serve. Knowing that someone they’ve never met has taken the time to create something so special for their baby brings a sense of comfort and support during what can be a very emotional journey."

Well done Wendy, and thank you so much for knitting these in recognition of our anniversary!

Have you seen that the Government recently announced that families suffering pregnancy loss before 24 weeks will now be given rights to time off?

This latest forms a part of the amendments being made to the Employment Rights Bill.

We are pleased the decision has been made to extend bereavement support to those impacted by pregnancy loss, as it will ensure those who are entitled to that compassionate leave have the space and time to grieve.

More can be done to further the wellbeing provisions for maternity units and bereavement care for parents across the UK.

Over the years, we have supported the UK's leading pregnancy and baby loss charity, Sands - baby loss charity, which has campaigned tirelessly to improve provisions for parents - efforts that are ongoing.

As always, if you are seeking bereavement support for yourself or for someone you know, head to our website where you can access a range of free resources, from the GriefChat professional grief counselling service to our free Talking Elephants sessions.

We're delighted to see that John Adams, former President of the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD), has won his campaign to add bereavement education to the school curriculum.

The campaign advocated for the inclusion of bereavement education within the Religious, S*x, and Health Education (RSHE) curriculum in England, to better equip students with the knowledge and understanding of grief and loss.

We are proud advocates for better bereavement care for children, using our knowledge and expertise to produce a Child Bereavement booklet 'Supporting a Child Through Bereavement and Beyond' in 2019. We then updated and reprinted the book in 2024, which is available free of charge for any parent, school or organisation that could benefit from its guidance on how to identify and support grief in children.

If you're interested in learning more about our bereavement support for children and families, or if you'd like to get a copy of our booklet, please follow the link to our website: https://pulse.ly/qajh23abjf

As proud members of Family Business UK, our Director and fifth-generation Neville family member, Vicky, recently shared an insight into the business history across Neville Trust Ltd and our 150-year milestone 👏

When discussing being the custodian of a 150-year-old family business, Vicky commented:

"At Neville Trust, family isn’t just our name – it’s our identity. For 150 years, our business has been built on a foundation of loyalty, compassion, and community, qualities that have guided us through generations.

"As a fifth-generation family member now leading the company, I feel the weight of that history every single day. It’s a privilege, but it’s also a challenge."
