🎭 A Night at the Musicals 🎶

A message from Samantha.....

Last night was one of the most emotional evenings of my time at DurhamGate Care Home. As Front of House Manager, I’ve been here since before we even opened our doors, more accurately, before the doors and windows were even fitted, working alongside Karen, our General Manager to get the home ready to welcome a new community. I've welcomed every single resident who has come to stay, whether they’ve made DurhamGate their permanent home or joined us for a respite stay.

To mark my farewell, we celebrated with A Night at the Musicals, and I was completely overwhelmed by the turnout. Residents, families, friends, and colleagues all came together, and it was wonderful to see everyone dressed up for the occasion from sparkling outfits to smart suits and plenty of smiles. ✨

It was such a privilege to have the chance to say goodbye in such a joyful, music-filled way. Thank you to everyone who has made my years here so special – you’ve truly been my DurhamGate family, and I will miss you all dearly. 💛

🍹 Cocktails & Mocktails in the Sky Bar! 🍹

What a fabulous afternoon we’ve had here at DurhamGate! Our Sky Bar was the place to be today as residents gathered for a lively Cocktails and Mocktails afternoon – and it was lovely to see so many smiling faces. 😊

It was especially wonderful to welcome lots of our new residents, who joined in the fun and helped make the event extra special. Whether it was a fruity mocktail or a classic cocktail, there was something for everyone – and plenty of laughter to go around! 🥂🍓🍍

Here’s to making memories and enjoying the little moments together. 💛

🎉 What a Wonderful Week at DurhamGate! 🏡🎶🦉

We’ve had a jam-packed week full of creativity, nostalgia, and plenty of entertainment here at DurhamGate Care Home!

We began the week by admiring Anne’s incredible dollhouse dioramas, which she lovingly created after enjoying her previous two stays with us so much. Each tiny room tells a story, and they’ve sparked lots of conversation, memories, and admiration from residents and visitors alike. 🧡🏠✨

There was music and laughter in the air during our Calamity Jane sing-along in the cinema, followed by a fantastic performance from Stephen Swales, who had everyone singing and swaying along. 🎬🎶

A real highlight was our interactive visit from Owl Adventures, where residents met some magnificent birds up close, and everyone will receive a commemorative photo to remember the experience. 📸🦉

After all the excitement, we wound down with a relaxed evening in the bar, full of chatter, laughter, and good company. 🍷🍻

Thursday welcomed Lullababy Durham and we went Back to School with a nostalgic theme day — complete with packed lunches, a school hymns sing-along, and a pop-up restaurant serving elevated versions of classic school dinners. It sparked lots of fun and fond memories! 📚🎒🍽️

We ended the week on a high note with Tony DaSousa Entertainments, who gave a sensational performance covering everything from musicals to rock and roll — the perfect finale to a brilliant week. 🎭🎸💃

🌟 We’re also thrilled to announce that our top floor officially opened this week! We’d like to extend the warmest of welcomes to our new residents who joined the DurhamGate family — we’re so happy to have you with us. 💛🏠

Thank you to our wonderful team and residents for making DurhamGate such a joyful, inspiring place to live. We wonder what adventures next week will bring!

🎒✏️ Back to School at DurhamGate! 📚🍎

This afternoon we were transported back in time for our Back to School theme day, and what a fun-filled day it was!

Residents tucked into nostalgic packed lunches before the lounge filled up with laughter and stories as we reminisced about school days. From favourite subjects to cheeky classroom memories, everyone had something to share!

🎶 The highlight of the afternoon was a joyful school hymns sing-along, bringing back those familiar tunes that had us all smiling.

To top it all off, our kitchen team treated everyone to a pop-up restaurant experience with an elevated school dinner, classic comfort food all round!

Thank you to everyone who joined in the fun and helped make it such a memorable day. 🍽️❤️
