Bill passed away on 1st September, aged 79 years.

Beloved husband of the late Kathleen, devoted dad of Karen and Garry, cherished father in law of David, dearly loved brother of Edward, Margaret, Alison, and the late Ellen, Susan and Paula and a loving uncle and brother in law. He was a friend to many and will be missed by all who knew him.

Friends please meet for service
at Durham Crematorium
on Friday 3rd October
at 11:00am.

Donations may be given after the service for
Asthma & Lung UK.

Lee tragically passed away on 31st August, aged 47 years.

Beloved husband of Tracey, devoted dad of Lewis and Ben, much loved son of Brenda and the late Joseph, dear step son of Brian, cherished brother of Paul and brother-in law to Yesim and Kelly, and uncle to Jack and Alara. He will be sadly missed by all family and friends.

Tuesday 16th September at 11:00am
followed by interment in the churchyard.

Holly and Chris are amazing!!

They both successfully completed the Great North Run on Sunday raising vital funds for St Cuthbert's Hospice

In Loving Memory of Jean Frances Thompson, nee Hughes

We would like to announce the funeral details following the sudden death of Jean Thompson on 21 August 2025, just a few days before her 86th birthday. Jean was so much to so many – Wife of Bev, Mother to Mark, Sue, Sally and Jenny, Mother-in-law to Liz, Mark and Alan, Granny to nine big children and Great-Granny to five little ones. She is a huge miss to us all but died with her loved ones by her side after a long and happy life.

Mum dealt with the ins and outs of our large family, not with matriarchal control, but with quiet and unassuming grace. It is only when she is not here, that we all realise the enormity of that task and how well she managed it.

It has been a great comfort to read the many cards we have received which mention her kindness, generosity and how she welcomed so many people, at so many times throughout her life, into our home and lives.

1.15pm followed by a short committal for family at Durham Crematorium.

A reception will follow in the Church Hall, where friends and family are invited to gather and share memories.

We welcome all who knew and loved her to join us in celebrating her life and legacy.

She would have loved everyone to wear some colour if they want to, in recognition of the colourful, happy and full life she lived.

Holly and Chris are running the Great North Run on Sunday to raise vital funds for St Cuthbert's Hospice

As a business we are huge supporters of the hospice and fully recognise just how vital the services they provide are to our local community.

Chris has recently injured his knee but is still determined to complete it... even if he has to walk it (or crawl it!).

If anyone is able to sponsor Holly or Chris, no matter how small the donation, all will be gratefully received to help them achieve their target.

We’re probably a little late in asking now as we’re sure everyone is super organised and ready for the kids to return to school next week… but does anyone have any old / spare school uniform for any of our local schools we could use in our ‘back to school’ window display for a couple of weeks?
We’re specifically looking or:

Boys shorts/trousers
Coloured school jumpers / cardigans
Book bags
Summer dress
PE Hoodies/ T-shirts

They will be returned (if you’d like them back)

If you come across anything, please drop it into our Ushaw Moor office over the next couple of days.

Our lovely Holly conducted her very first funeral yesterday… and it was absolutely perfect!
The family were over the moon with your care and professionalism.

on 25th July, aged 88 years.
