National Self Care Week: Ensuring our carers are cared for 🫂

Whether you're one of our professional Care Workers or you're caring for a loved one, self care is incredibly important.

Prioritising your own health and well-being should never been seen as selfish, because caring for yourself ensures you're well enough to provide the highest standard of care to others.

For our staff, our Employee Assistance Programme, TELUS Health, is free to join! With TELUS you can access personal mental health support, health and financial guidance as well as discounts on big name brands. To join TELUS email tilly.brown@dalecare.co.uk for your invitation.

⭐ INTERNATIONAL MEN'S DAY ⭐

The 19th November marks International Men's Day. For this occasion we wanted to talk about two important men who helped shape care as we know it today.

The first recorded instance of 'home care' was by Giles of Assisi, a monk from the 13th century who was known for caring for the sick and elderly and visited them in their own homes. Henri Dunant, another pioneer in healthcare, was a co-founder of the Red Cross. After seeing the effects of war, Dunant wanted a way to treat those injured an reduce the number of casualties, no matter what side of the war they were fighting on.

As a company that provides home care to many elderly service users with different care needs and abilities, we understand that different service users require care packages fitted to their own personal needs and the importance of emotional support that needs to be provided to our service users and their loved ones. Without the incredible work and precedent of these men, we would not be able to provide our service users with such compassion and comfort in their care.

⚠️ AMBER WEATHER WARNING ⚠️

The UK Government has issued a yellow weather warning across the UK. We are expecting cold temperatures with a possibility of ice and snow, therefore we are encouraging all staff to take extra precautions, especially when travelling.

Please also be mindful to take extra care ensuring all of our service users are kept warm during this time, especially those who are more vulnerable.
