⭐Optical experience is essential ⭐
As a local, independent opticians, we provide a personal and individual service to our patients.

All of our staff work as part of a team in which everyone plays an essential role. Due to increased demand we are looking to appoint a capable and flexible person to take on the role of Optical Assistant.

The successful candidate will work at our Durham practice 3 x 7 hour shifts 9.30am to 5pm.(negotiable)

Duties and responsibilities:
• Dispense eyewear
• Carry out quality checks of eyewear (including focimetry)
• Dealing with patient enquiries and collections of eyewear
• Managing the booking of appointments and transactions
• Preparing paperwork ready for clinics
• Maintaining the patient record system
• Processing recall letters
• Opening and closing the practice
• A share of cleaning duties
• Spectacle repairs
• Office Support
Skills and Experience
• A general interest in eye health and optics
• Optical experience essential
• High degree of personal integrity and trustworthiness
• Experience of working with people/the public
• Excellent people skills
• Making patients feel welcome and at ease
• Very good attention to detail
• Willingness to learn
• Very well organised and able to accurately operate systems
• Very good telephone manner
• Very good literacy and numeracy skills
• General confidence and competence in the use of IT
Job Type: Full-time/Part-time, Permanent
Hours: Negotiable min 21 hours, 7 hour shifts.
Salary: From £12.71- £13.75 per hour depending on experience

Schedule:
• 7 hour shift 9.30 to 5.00 (Odd days 9-5 when locum cover is used)
