Back with the Complex Care Team this evening in completing clinical competency assessments...

βœ… Full Tracheostomy Tube Change

βœ… Tracheostomy Inner Tube Change

βœ… Tracheostomy Suctioning

We love these packages, as it's completeness for us, and gives reassurances to CQC and the Commissioning Team that the staff are actually competent in delivering complex care skills 🀝

We delivered the initial Level 3 Accredited Tracheostomy Care Training with simulated competency assessments, and have then followed this up over the last few months, completing actual clinical competency assessments with the Complex Care Support Workers and Clinical Lead in the Patients own home πŸ‘Œ

Our first session with the and teams today with three CPD updates

βœ… Level 2 Moving and Handling

βœ… Level 2 Enhanced Basic Life Support

βœ… Level 2 Safe Handling and Administration Medication

Lots of updates on our courses today, especially our Level 2 Enhanced Basic Life Support (For those with a duty to respond).

This included the latest Resuscitation Council UK and ERC 2025 guidelines, such as new choking management procedure for the choking infant, new CPR algorithm for a child in a cardiac arrest (for those trained and a duty to respond), new Defib pad placement, new advice on where to perform CPR, and so much more.

New guideline updates well received and the staff performing really well throughout the practicals.

We've also updated our Moving and Handling CPD clinical workshop, and added in the ear defenders for the practicals. Again, this was really well received, simulating the importance of effective communication for those with a hearing impairmentπŸ‘‚

Finally, finishing off with our updated safe handling and administration of medication, with even more images than before, allowing for more discussion throughout the course.

Really happy with how these courses were all received today, with some great feedback from those in attendance πŸ‘Œ

We did say yesterday we were celebrating our TENTH year, and whilst that's true for our training provision, we are actually celebrating our FIFTEENTH year in foot care πŸ‘£

We had always dreamed of having our own business. We tried window cleaning and waterless car valets initially...and we were actually building up a good client base. However, we didn't want to lose working in healthcare, and so looked at other options.

We get asked so much, "Why feet" and "I couldn't do your job"

We don't see it as a job as such, we are making a small difference to someone's quality of life. It might not seem much, having ingrown toenails, corns, significant Callus, or even just long nails...but until you experience the pain that is often associated with these conditions, then you don't often appreciate how important your feet are.

This is the satisfaction we get from this role. In as little as 30 minutes, we can often take away someone's pain, which is simply amazing.

Again, starting with one patient, visiting them in their own home, didn't even want to ask for the modest fee, and almost left without payment. Now, we are so fortunate to have a good size home visiting practice. We visit many care homes, from Ashington to Durham, and also visit people in their own homes.

Once again, a lot of hard work has and does go into everything that we do. Running your own business certainly brings so many challenges, but we couldn't imagine doing anything else now.

Thank you so much to everyone who has used and uses our footcare service. Thank you to everyone who mentions our name. We are so fortunate that we don't actively advertise this service now, as all of our referrals come through word of mouth and reputation...thank you πŸ™

We are so excited to share that this is our TENTH year of delivering training πŸ₯³

For over a decade now we have been travelling all over the country to deliver Mandatory Training, Specialist Clinical Skills Training and Complex Care Training.

Starting off with a dream and only one client, delivering training once every couple of months, to now having a small team, delivering training Monday to Friday.

We are so, so blessed. SOOO much hard work has and does go into what we do. There has also been so much doubt along the way...can we really do this?, should we take the plunge and go for this? So many headaches, so many sleepless nights, not having a penny to our name as we built this business up to what you see today. No business loans, just hard, hard graft 😬

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to EVERYONE who has supported us over the years, whatever the contribution may be.

We have had, and no doubt will in the future, had difficult times and difficult clients, but we are so fortunate now to only work with the very best...so a MASSIVE shout out to our existing clients (and those who used our services over the years but didn't give us any grief πŸ™„), we really do think the world of you 🫢

We are working hard behind the scenes revamping our current courses (There's been many updates in practice and protocols throughout 2025) and we are adding new courses as well... exciting times ahead

I remember someone saying when we shared this dream all those years ago, "You'll never make it, the competition is too great". Not too sure what "Made it" actually means, but we now have enough clients and work to keep us viable. We are never going to be millionaires, but that was never ever the plan. We've gone from a team of two to three, and that's big enough for us. The plan was never to have multiple trainers working for us, or multiple offices, we want to keep the family feel to the business.

We are really excited to see what the future brings and what new challenges will come our way...100% we are ready for them. Looking forward to delivering training for another decade (Hopefully πŸ™...there will always be doubt), and hope you will continue on our journey with us 🀝

...and that's us done for 2025 ✌️

We've been in today seeing the last of our patients for πŸ‘£

Thank you to those who like, follow and engage with our social media posts...it means a lot 🫢

Thank you to everyone who has supported us, not just this year, but all the previous years as well...we would not be where we are now, doing what we love, without all of your support.

No matter how small your involvement with us has been, we appreciate you all so so much. From the recommendations, words of wisdom, encouragement when we doubt ourselves, THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts 🫢

We are going to have a few days off to recharge our batteries, then we will be raring to go in 2026 to help support people with their footcare needs πŸ‘£

We've had a busy day across Northumberland visiting two Care Homes, ensuring the residents feet are in tip top condition for Santa coming πŸŽ…

We've come across a range of presentations today, including pressure damage, wounds, corns, callus, thickened nails, ingrown toe nails, Doppler ultra-sound assessment, wound care, and simple nail cut and file βš•οΈ

Working with the Multi-Disciplinary Teams, we've got plans of care in place for everyone seen, ensuring their foot health needs are taking care of 🀝

That's us signing off now as we have a couple of days break over the Christmas period, but we will be back out again just before we see in the New Year visiting more individuals in the community 🏑

πŸŽ…πŸŽ… Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas πŸŽ…πŸŽ…

...and that's a wrap, our last TRAINING session of 2025

πŸ“Œ I've been in Durham with the Nurses completing their Safe Handling and Administration of Medication, then onto PEG Care

πŸ“Œ Irene has been in Chester Le Street with the Agency teams completing their Basic Life Support and Moving and Handling updates

πŸ“Œ Stacy has been in the office completing the final compliance checks and internal verification

We are not quite finished yet, as we still have some footcare appointments to see out before the year is up.

We hope everyone has an absolutely amazing Christmas. Thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout 2025 🫢

Ahh, today marks a very sad day for us as we say farewell to one of our long standing companions, our trusty bike 😞

Gutted is an understatement, as this amazing machine has played such a pivotal role in what we have done for the last 8 years.

The bike has played a major role in our free first aid sessions, with well over 2000 kids having a go on the bike as part of the session, their little smiles...priceless πŸ™‚

We also had our free emergency delivery service, collecting medications, prescriptions and Medical equipment...delivering to care homes, hospitals and community providers 🀝

And, me and this machine have clocked up over 80,000 miles‼️ together, covering the length and breadth of the country. Sun, rain, hail, ice, snow, wind, we've seen it all, never missing a beat. From our base in Ashington, all the way down to Bristol and Oxfordshire, and back, in a day, never let me down.

I really am gutted to be saying good bye, but it's reached the end of the road.

Good bye my friend, thank you for all of the memories and for looking after me out there over the years 😞

NHS England recently reported almost 4,000 cases of individuals with ingrown toenails presented at A+E last winter 😬

As Foot Health Practitioners, ingrown toenails are something we come across on a regular basis.

We can offer specialist treatment for ingrown toenails, and can usually manage these with conservative treatment in the comfort of your own home 🏠

As required, we can offer specialised wound care, using antimicrobial dressings, offer foot health advice, and arrange regular footcare appointments to help minimise reoccurrence βœ”οΈ

We can also refer to the Multi-Disciplinary Team if we feel you need further intervention, such as GP, Pharmacist and NHS Podiatry 🀝

Let's leave A+E for critical emergency care 🚨
