A client moved into this house in Cheltenham and discovered an old Quarry tiled floor under the carpet in the hallway. The carpet was wet and smelly and had to go, so you can imagine the surprise when a perfectly intact tiled floor was discovered underneath.

The tiles were looking very neglected and stained with self-levelling cement and carpet glue, however, keen to understand if it could be restored, we were contacted to take a look.

Travertine is a beautiful and characterful natural stone however like all natural stone it does need maintaining and this Kitchen floor in Dursley was no exception.

The tiles were installed twenty years ago, and it had been some time since it was last cleaned and sealed. The sealer had now worn off and dirt had become lodged in the pores of the stone turning some of the natural pits black and unsightly.

Was becoming exasperated by flagstone flooring in kitchen and dining areas and the brick floor tiling in hall that had been a nightmare to clean ever since we moved into our Cheltenham flat some 18 months ago. I had been using a specialist stone floor cleaning product, but it seemed really hard work to not only clean the tiles but also keep them clean when no steam cleaning is allowed! Just when we were considering might have to rip them up and put down different flooring, we came across the specialist stone cleaning services of Tile Doctor. Communication was quick, very easy and we were soon matched up with Malcolm Crowther who covers the Gloucestershire area – and who came out to do an initial site review. The Tile Doctor product ordering system worked well, and the products seem to have been very effective. Communication with Malcolm and Sharon was excellent throughout the deep cleaning of the tiles which was a tricky job as there was some weird grouting and varnishing that had to be dug out and the tiles were badly pitted and stained in places. We knew from the start that it could never look like a brand-new floor but without a doubt there is a huge difference to the overall appearance of the tiles. Both Malcolm and Sharon are clearly very knowledgeable and really take pride in doing a good job. We had utmost admiration for their determination not to be outdone by this task and they were diligent and methodical in their work, explaining each part of the process. The flagstone appears lighter and the colours in the brick tile flooring now shine through and we are delighted with the finish. The floors were resealed with 5 layers and so hopefully it will be a good few years before we need them to be done again. It is also now an absolute doddle to clean the floors!

We were so pleased with the work done on the tile floors that we asked Malcolm to quote to come back to deep clean and seal the Minster stone fire surround in main room that was probably over 30 years old and had clearly seen better days. This was another case of something that had drawn us to the flat and sadly might have had to be taken out. Once again Malcolm proved to be an expert in his field and worked diligently to return our grimy limestone fireplace surround back to its former glory whilst still maintaining much of its character. Really pleased with how it looks now, and Malcolm offered good advice regarding maintenance too.

Both Malcolm and Sharon were very friendly and comfortable to have around, and we would definitely recommend them to others. The pricing for the floors and stone fire surround was also very reasonable, especially given the amount of work that was needed. A job well done!

Superb finish at an an excellent price. Would heartily recommend. The restaurant travertine floor looks brand new (and after 20 years of busy trading that's saying something!)

Malcolm did an amazing job, better than I could have hoped for. He was knowledgeable and got on with the job effectively and promptly. I knew what was going on at each step and it’s clear Malcolm enjoys the job by the attention to detail.

Very pleased.Our tiles were laid by an unprofessional DIY man. As a consequence the grouting was very porous and ingrained with 4 years of dirt. Having tried ourselves to clean them, we gave up and contacted Malcom. Very quick to respond, came out on Sunday to test the tiles and returned to do the job shortly afterwards. He even kept us posted re time of arrival.
I cannot recommend this company enough. Unbelievable amount of hard work went into restoring them. Non stop for approx 8 hrs, with a machine and on his hands and knees, he took such pride in his work that he went over them again and again. In addition he was a very nice man, charming and professional. Highly recommended.

Tiles laid by previous owner, who did not do a professional job on laying tiles. Porous grouting and never sealed. Dirty water seeping in over 4 years. We tried to remove the dirt over a period of time, then gave up and called Tile Doctor Gloucester.
Malcolm is an extremely hard working professional. With a machine and on hands and knees for approx 8 hrs, he managed to do a great job. From first contact, to making a trip on Sunday to do a test, to informing us on the day as to his arrival time and his extremely pleasant nature, we could not have been more pleased. Great job, highly recommend.

Malcolm did a great job. He was really helpful with advice for future care of the patio. The patio looks good as new. He was friendly and professional and paid great attention to detail.
