🌈 Embrace Their Uniqueness

Every autistic individual experiences the world in their own beautiful way.
Their passions, routines, and sensitivities are part of what makes them unique — not something to be changed, but something to be understood and celebrated.

Let’s create a society that values difference, listens with compassion, and recognises the strength in every perspective. 💙

Supporting Your Child Through Exam Stress

Exam season can feel overwhelming for young people, and your calm presence can make all the difference. A few gentle reminders can help:

*Listen without pressure
*Praise effort, not perfection
*Encourage breaks and rest
*Keep the home environment steady and calm

If your child seems overwhelmed or anxious, counselling can offer a safe space to talk and learn coping tools. Butterfly Counselling is here to support children, young people and families.

As Mental Health Awareness Week continues, we’re focusing on the small, sustainable actions that support long‑term wellbeing.

The Mental Health Foundation highlights eight simple practices that can make a real difference over time:

• Prioritising your physical health
• Connecting with others
• Being present
• Learning something new
• Understanding and managing your emotions
• Setting boundaries
• Prioritising sleep
• Seeking professional support when you need it

You don’t need to do all eight. Even choosing one small action can help you feel more grounded and more in control.

If you’d like support building healthier habits or understanding what you need right now, Butterfly Counselling is here to help you take that next step.

Mental Health Awareness Week reminds us that action doesn’t have to be big to be meaningful.

A breath.
A conversation.
A check‑in.
A moment of kindness.

When we act for ourselves, for someone else, and for our wider community, we create real change—together.

If you need support, Butterfly Counselling is here to listen.

It’s OK to Take Things at Your Own Pace

Life can feel overwhelming at times, and it’s easy to forget that we’re allowed to slow down.

Supporting Autistic & Neurodivergent Children and Families

Every child communicates differently — through words, play, movement or behaviour. At Butterfly Counselling, we understand these differences and specialise in supporting autistic and neurodivergent children, young people and their families.

Our therapists use a blend of approaches, including person‑centred therapy, CBT, EMDR, play therapy, DDP and more, so each child is supported in a way that truly fits them.

We help children navigate a largely neurotypical world with less stress and anxiety, building confidence and protecting long‑term emotional wellbeing.

If your child is finding things overwhelming, we’re here to help.

A space that’s just for you

In‑person counselling offers something uniquely grounding — a calm, confidential space away from the noise of everyday life. A place where you can pause, breathe, and talk openly without distraction.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or simply need someone to listen, Butterfly Counselling provides a safe, supportive environment to help you feel at ease.

🌿 As Stress Awareness Month Comes to a Close…

Stress doesn’t disappear because the calendar moves on. But the habits we build — the boundaries, the breathing space, the moments of stillness — can stay with us.

As we move into May, we encourage you to carry forward:

* The permission to slow down
* The awareness of what drains you
* The courage to say “not right now”
* The kindness you’ve shown yourself this month

If you’re finding stress difficult to manage, or you’d like support in creating calmer, more sustainable ways of living, Butterfly Counselling is here. You don’t have to navigate it alone.

Ever felt an “emotional hangover”?

That heavy, flat, wired‑but‑tired feeling that shows up after a stressful week, a difficult conversation, a big life event… or sometimes for no obvious reason at all.

An emotional hangover is your mind and body catching up. When you’ve been running on adrenaline, holding things together, or absorbing more than you realise, the crash often comes later.

It’s a completely human response — and you don’t have to push through it alone.
Counselling offers a calm, confidential space to slow down, make sense of what’s underneath, and gently reset. Sometimes understanding why you feel this way is the first step toward feeling lighter again.

If you’re carrying more than people realise, Butterfly Counselling is here when you’re ready to talk.
