What is functional exercise and why is it so important?
The things we do often are the things we keep doing.
Getting on and off the floor is a great example of a functional exercise. It makes you do full range of movements and you need good lower limb strength.
Lots of people in their 60s come to clinic and mention they haven’t been able to do that for ages. I ask “how often would you do it?” They would say “never really” so why would you expect to keep doing it.
Remember it’s the things we do often we keep doing.
