🔷👤Yesterday in the clinic…👤🔷

We had a patient come in with intense pain at the back of his leg and heel, struggling even to walk. After a thorough assessment, Matt diagnosed a Grade 1–2 tear of the Achilles tendon — a painful and potentially serious injury.🦵

The Achilles tendon is the largest tendon in the body, connecting the calf muscles to the heel bone. Tears can occur from sudden movements or overuse, and symptoms often include sharp pain, swelling, and difficulty bearing weight. ⚡️

Thankfully, early treatment was started right away. We used ultrasound therapy to reduce inflammation, applied supportive strapping, and sent the patient home with a clear recovery plan. 🤕

💡 Recovery from an Achilles tear can range from several weeks for mild tears (Grade 1) to a few months for more significant ones (Grade 2). Rest, rehabilitation, and gradual strengthening are key.

And of course — Chewi was on hand for cuddles and comfort. 🐾
(Our therapy dog is only present when patients are comfortable with him — and this patient happens to know him very well!)

New Paws on the Block! 🐾

Our regular clients will recognise Chewi, a familiar face around the clinic! This week, he’s got some company — his brother Albus is joining him while his pawrents are away on holiday 🐶

Chewi and Albus are 8-month-old show cocker spaniels, full of charm and energy. If you’re visiting, be sure to say hello — they both absolutely love cuddles! 🥰

🔹💥Spotlight on……Raff Guerreiro!💥🔹

Raff began his journey with us at North Notts Health in 2020, starting out with relaxation and deep tissue massage. With a passion for learning and helping others, he quickly expanded his skill set to include dry needling and Level 4 Sports Massage — bringing even more depth to his treatments.

His interest in musculoskeletal science began at just 17, after injuring his back playing basketball. That pivotal experience, along with the guidance of mentor Matt Walster, sparked a long-term commitment to understanding the human body and its healing processes.

In 2021, Raff took a major step forward by beginning his Master’s in Chiropractic, which he’s currently in his 4th year, on track to complete in 2026.

With a growing interest in inflammation, weight loss, and metabolic health, Raff is dedicating his dissertation to exploring the link between ketogenesis and joint health — a cutting-edge area of study with huge potential.

Congratulations to our Chloe 👏 Adding another string to her bow with a course in menopause care, striving to provide all round support and wellness for women 💪

I’m very pleased to announce that I have gained another qualification under my belt… supporting women to live well through symptom management advice, appropriate exercise & nutrition through the perimenopause & menopause🙋🏻‍♀️🧚🏻‍♀️

Supporting women through this stage of their life is something I’ve always been very passionate about so I’m very excited to have broadened my knowledge & be able to apply this to my coaching🌈

This is your reminder to not suffer in silence, it can be a very difficult time so reach out and ask for help… it will only make you stronger💕
