🌿 Exciting News! 🌿

I’m delighted to share that I’m now a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)! 🎉

Becoming part of the BACP feels like a real milestone — it represents not just professional recognition, but also a commitment to the highest standards of ethical and effective practice.

The BACP does incredible work in supporting counsellors and psychotherapists, advocating for the value of therapy, and ensuring the public can access safe, high-quality support. It’s inspiring to be part of a community that’s so dedicated to improving mental health and wellbeing for all. 💚

Here’s to continuing to grow, learn, and make a difference — alongside such a respected organisation!

Today is World Mental Health Day, and I’ve been reflecting on the power of listening to really change someone’s life. It sounds so simple! And yet we can find it so hard to sit and really hear what someone is saying. As parents we’re used to hearing and responding to practical needs; “I’m hungry!” “I’m tired,” “I’m thirsty,” “Can you play with me?” We can do something about these things, and it feels finished. But when a child says “I hate myself,” “I’m ugly,” “I’m no good,” we feel our anxiety rise and we say things like, “No you’re not! You’re brilliant, you’re beautiful, you’re amazing!” to reassure them. What we need to teach ourselves to do is reflect and respond to the feeling instead of shutting it down, because then we show our child we’re really listening. A simple “It sounds like you’re telling me you don’t like yourself very much right now” can do wonders to open up a conversation instead of shutting it down. “It sounds like things are really tricky for you” keeps the door open instead of closing it.

In therapy, listening is a simple and powerful tool, and it’s the best one we have in our arsenal. I will not interrupt you, I will not shut you down, and I will listen to whatever you want to give me, and we’ll go wherever you want to take us – together.

Well! A week and a bit has passed since our launch, and I can confidently say that being in my lovely therapy space is my happy place. I've been making phone calls, doing assessments, seeing clients, and printing paperwork at an alarming rate! Starting a business is no easy task, there's been a hell of a lot of admin, and now I'm responsible for remembering to charge the card machine... Oops!
Today has been a bit quieter and I finally got around to making a brew and putting up some thank you cards from previous clients, and reflecting on how lucky I am that I get to do this job. It's an immense privilege, and I am always thankful that people put their trust in me to help them in such a unique way. Every client deserves to be heard, to tell their story, and to feel safe, and I'm so thankful to be in a position to offer that.

Today is Su***de Prevention Day – a time to come together, raise awareness, and remind each other that hope and help are always possible.
Every year in the UK, thousands of lives are tragically lost to su***de. Behind every number is a person who mattered deeply – someone’s friend, parent, child, or partner. Today is about remembering them, supporting those who are struggling, and breaking the silence that too often surrounds mental health.
The theme this year is “Creating hope through action”. That means recognising the power of even the smallest gestures. A text to a friend, a kind word, a genuine “How are you?” can open the door to a life-saving conversation. You don’t have to have all the answers – just listening and showing you care can make a world of difference.
Across the country, charities like Samaritans, Mind, and PAPYRUS are working tirelessly to provide support and resources. Communities are wearing yellow, sharing stories, and lighting up landmarks to spread a message of hope: you are not alone.
If you’re struggling right now, please know that your feelings are valid and your life matters. Reaching out for support is a sign of strength, not weakness. And if you’re worried about someone you love, don’t be afraid to start the conversation – it could save their life.
💛 Let’s use today to spread kindness, share hope, and remind each other that there is always help available. Together, we can make a difference.
📞 If you need support, call Samaritans free on 116 123 – day or night.

Thank you so much to everyone who came to our launch yesterday, I feel like I've only just recovered! It was so heartwarming to meet so many people keen to collaborate and find ways we can support individuals and the community together. The feedback has been invaluable around what kind of support would be most helpful, and the majority of it is support groups for all kinds of people. Myself and my community of therapists will get our thinking hats on to make this happen, watch this space!
Most importantly, the £25 Kofi voucher has been won by... Michael Johnstone! Thank you so much for following us, please check your messages :)
