What a fantastic day Saturday was 🌟

We had the pleasure of bringing people together at The Lion at Earls Colne to celebrate and say “Adios Amigos” to the wonderful Camino Truckers before they head off on their epic walk in Spain 🚛✨

The day was filled with connection, laughter, music, and community spirit — everything we believe is so important for wellbeing and bringing people together. It was incredible to see so many sharing such a positive and uplifting day.

At Evergreen CIC, creating spaces where people feel connected, welcomed, and supported is at the heart of what we do, and Saturday was a beautiful reminder of the power of community.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, supported the event, and helped make it such a success.

To the Camino Truckers — we wish you safe travels, unforgettable adventures, and plenty of wonderful memories ahead. ❤️

Massive thank you to The Lion for hosting and providing such delicious Spanish-inspired food. Thank you to the local businesses who donated raffle prizes - Ziel, Parfait Visage Hair & Beauty, Earls colne Store & Post Office, Boots, Head to Toe Beauty, Dusk Pop-Up and Colne Valley Wines, we raised an incredible £223 which will go directly to funding sessions and parent & carer groups. Thank you to Mike from Rekovered for singing with me even though we both had terrible colds 😂

Adios Amigos… until we meet again! 🌍🍻🎶

Perhaps you’re taking action this by speaking to a counsellor for the first time 🤍

That step can feel big, unfamiliar, or even overwhelming – so here are some questions you can save for later, ask in a first session, or share with someone else who might be thinking about getting support too.

Because feeling informed and supported can make reaching out feel a little less daunting.

Mental health and physical health are deeply connected 💚

Movement is one of the most powerful tools we have in battling poor mental health. Whether it’s yoga as both mental and physical therapy, children running, climbing and playing freely, or adults challenging themselves to walk further and reconnect with nature — moving our bodies helps calm the mind, reduce stress, build confidence and create connection.

At Evergreen CIC, we see the benefits every day.

Our Camino Truckers are currently preparing for their incredible Camino Trail journey, putting in the physical training, long walks and mental resilience needed for the challenge ahead. Their journey is about far more than miles walked — it’s about wellbeing, friendship, purpose and personal growth.

Yoga continues to show us how breathing, stretching and mindful movement can support both body and mind, while encouraging children to stay active, play outdoors and move naturally is vital for healthy emotional development.

Every step matters. Every stretch matters. Every walk, play session and act of movement can make a difference.

Join us this Saturday 16th May at 1.30pm at The Lion in Earls Colne for our fundraising event supporting Evergreen CIC and the Camino Truckers. We’d love to see the community come together to support mental wellbeing through movement, connection and challenge 💚

Traumatic experiences can have a significant and lasting impact on a child’s developing brain, nervous system and sense of safety. Children who have experienced trauma may remain in a state of hypervigilance, emotional overwhelm or shutdown long after the event has passed.

Their behaviour may communicate distress in ways that are often misunderstood, such as aggression, withdrawal, controlling behaviours, dissociation or difficulties with relationships and trust.

Trauma is not stored only as words and memories. It is often held within the body, sensory experiences and the nervous system. Because of this, children may struggle to verbally explain what has happened to them or how they feel about it.

Play Therapy is particularly effective for traumatised children because it allows experiences to be processed through play, sensory expression, creativity and the therapeutic relationship rather than relying purely on conversation. Symbolic play can help children safely express and make sense of difficult experiences without becoming overwhelmed by directly retelling them.

Neuroscience and attachment theory both highlight the importance of safe, attuned relationships in supporting healing following trauma. Within Play Therapy, the consistent therapeutic relationship can help children begin to rebuild trust, increase feelings of safety and develop healthier ways of regulating emotions and relating to others.

Children do not always have the words to explain how they feel — but they often show us through play.

Play therapy provides children with a safe, supportive space to express emotions, experiences, worries, and thoughts in the way that comes most naturally to them. Through toys, art, storytelling, creative activities, and imaginative play, children can begin to process difficult feelings and experiences that may otherwise feel too overwhelming or confusing to talk about directly.

Sometimes children communicate distress through behaviour changes, meltdowns, withdrawal, anxiety, sleep difficulties, school struggles, anger, or separation anxiety. Play therapy helps us understand what may be happening beneath the surface.

At Evergreen CIC, we recognise that play is not “just play” — it is a child’s language. Within a trusting therapeutic relationship, children can build emotional resilience, develop confidence, improve communication, and begin to feel safer and more understood.

Play therapy can support children experiencing:
🌿 Anxiety and worries
🌿 Low mood or emotional distress
🌿 Bereavement or loss
🌿 Family changes or separation
🌿 Trauma or difficult experiences
🌿 Friendship and school difficulties
🌿 Emotional regulation challenges
🌿 Low self-esteem

Our therapists work gently and creatively, always at the child’s pace, helping them feel heard, valued, and supported.

We offer free initial phone calls and assessments, with no pressure to continue unless it feels right for your family.
