🟠 The UK Health Security Agency has upgraded the heat health alert to amber, which is in place from Friday 11 July to Monday 14 July.
It’s important to take the right precautions and help people who might be more vulnerable as the temperatures rise.
Here are some top tips to :
🏠 Stay cool indoors. Close curtains on rooms that face the sun but also remember that it may be cooler outdoors than indoors.
💧 If you're heading outdoors, take bottled water, slap on the sunscreen frequently, and shield yourself from the sun during the hottest hours (11am to 3pm). Don't let it ruin your fun!
📱Check in on family, friends and neighbours if they need support.
🌡️ Feeling unwell? Dizzy? Unquenchable thirst? Move to a cool spot and hydrate yourself. NHS 111 is here to offer advice if needed. In an emergency, dial 999.
🧒 If you have young children, make sure they are protected from heat as they are more likely to become unwell from hot weather.
🌊 Don't let open waters deceive you! It's a no-go for swimming, even if it seems calm. Very cold water temperatures, hidden currents and debris under the water can pose life-threatening risks.
