Amanda Joy Holistic Psychologist & Clinical Hypnotherapist. I'm Amanda Joy for over 20 years now, I have worked as a therapist. The NCCH has training centres across the North of England and we offer training online too.

I'm Amanda Joy, the Joyful Mind Mentor, dedicated to guiding you on your journey to recovery from addiction, weight management, autoimmune conditions, and smoking cessation through the power of hypnotherapy. I have had the opportunity and blessing to explore the magic, the power and potential of the human mind. I am constantly amazed at some of the wonderful, miraculous changes I have witnessed in people. It's my Joy to share these stories and the simple yet powerful tools people used to heal their minds, bodies and souls. In January 2020 I opened The Northern College of Clinical Hypnotherapy where I'm The Director of Studies. I've a fantastic team of amazing therapists who have joined me in training people to become outstanding, world class Clinical Hypnotherapists. I'm also the host of the Wednesday Wellbeing show, The Tuesday vibes show and Hypno Geeks on Amanda Joy's Podcast and Awakened podcasts. Here I talk with the experts on all things wellness, lifestyle and fitness, the latest health, and beauty news, what to eat, how to live well, meditation, hypnotherapy holistic therapies and how to spot a gem of wellbeing wisdom from a passing fad. I like to talk with Spiritual leaders, Gurus, Monks, Therapists and other amazing inspirational individuals and experts on all things wellbeing from across the globe. ✨ A Little Reminder About Authenticity (and Why It’s So Uncomfortable Sometimes) ✨

So, let’s talk about authenticity for a minute…

We all LOVE the idea of being “authentic” don’t we?
Like yes.... show up as your real self, live your truth, be raw, be vulnerable, be a beacon of empowerment…

…but also…
not when my eye is sore and I look like I’ve just lost a fight with a pollen factory. 😭

Honestly this week I’ve felt weirdly vulnerable about putting real pictures of myself on social media.
I’ve been staring at the camera like:

📸 “Is this… my face? In public? For free??”

And going live? Absolutely not.
I haven’t wanted to do it because I feel like my face is doing that thing where it’s technically still my face…
…but also slightly giving “local pirate recovering from a rough night at sea.” 🏴‍☠️

And while we’re being authentic…

Over Christmas I fell off the wagon with my hypnotic audios.
Just stopped listening.
Like I had a whole routine going and then suddenly it was Christmas and my brain went:

🎄 “We’re busy now. We’re eating. We’re resting. We’re pretending January is a myth.”

So I’ve basically plateaued on my weight reduction journey.

And because I haven’t been feeling 100%… I’ve been tucking into some delicious things that are probably not that good for me.
Like little bits of toxic joy wrapped in pastry. 😌

Am I aware I’m bringing a bit of toxicity into my world?
Yes.
Will I suffer for it long term?
Also yes.
Do I care currently?
Not even a little bit. 💅

So in a moment of vulnerability (and sheer laziness), I decided to outsource my confidence.

I asked ChatGPT to make me slimmer and sort out my facial hair…

…and this is what happened. 😂

Let’s just say…
It’s giving “me, but after a dramatic personal rebrand...

So yeah… here’s your reminder:

💛 Being authentic is powerful.
💛 Being vulnerable is brave.
💛 And sometimes, being yourself means showing up even when you don’t feel like the polished version of you.

And sometimes it means posting the AI version and saying....

“I’ll definitely be back on the hypnotic audios Monday.” 🤣

My next available day is Monday, 26th January. I have availability in the afternoon only at the moment, and sessions usually last 90 minutes.

I’m also hosting meditation from 6pm–8pm the same evening. It’s £15, and everyone is welcome.
