What we resist, persists! 🤯

The more we try to push something away, or ignore it, or pretend it’s not there, the more it is going to continue to show up. And the reason for this, is that whatever we are resisting has something to teach us, to show us, to share with us. And when we aren’t willing to listen to it, it’s going to keep knocking on the door.

Which is why if we simply allow ourselves to accept what is showing up, even when we don’t like it or want it to be there, it creates a shift. We notice that the thing we resisted so hard is maybe not so scary after all, if we just look it straight in its face and allow it to be here. We let it loosen its grip over us, and we take back our power to be ok with whatever is in front of us at any given moment.

This lesson can be as simple as dealing with a delayed flight, to as complex as facing an extreme challenge in life. Either way, once you release the resistance to it, you find acceptance. And even if you still don’t like what is unfolding in front of you, there is an element of peace available in the acceptance.

Mindfulness Meetings in Newark

Sending much love and thanks to all those that have joined us at our Mindfulness Meetings in Newark over the last 8 Wednesday evenings. It has been such a great pleasure meeting you all and I’m looking forward to continuing with them on Weds 9 January, 7 pm - 9 pm. I’m so delighted that you and Mat from Stray’s coffee have given me the opportunity to start something local and accessible to people of Newark and surrounding areas. Mindfulness is much needed to help those struggling with anxiety, rumination, stress and that never ending chattering mind - all symptoms of today’s chaotic and overwhelming life and expectations.
