Live a little and have the fun.
Pregnancy is not a medical condition. Our bodies are capable, strong and not as delicate as many would assume. Also, those babies are very well protected in there.
We have some very old fashioned dos and don't for pregnancy in our culture and lots, if not most are rubbish!
Do what feels right for you. Tune into your intuitions and have some fun.

What a great week it's been.
A beautiful birth, actually 2🩷💙 (thank you to my client for giving me consent to share a few photos).
Some family time.
Pool sorting
Birth prepping.
Anyone local to Surrey, who needs an amazing hypnobirthing teacher, doula or breastfeeding support, is your girl. 🫶

My Saturday (morning) update!!

Where so many of us go wrong!!
Everyone focuses on the baby, sadly forgetting the mother!!
The Baby needs no one other than the mother. The mother, however, needs everyone.
If you take anything from me, when you next visit a new baby/new Mum! Make mum your interest, not the baby!!

Well done for making this clear.

The mother is holding the baby, but who is holding the mother???

A busy Monday: I started my day with a lovely homebirth, followed by lots of admin, equipment checking, equipment restocking, and a few work calls to finalise plans.

What a fun 24 hours.

A lovely day 5 postnatal appointment yesterday evening (mum and baby both doing amazing), totally a lovely, smooth birth this morning (mum and baby also doing great).
All finished off with some crumpets and a cuppa whilst doing the admin. 👌

Just under 5% of babies are still breech at "term" and many Midwives have been caught off guard by a surprise breech (it happened to me as a junior Midwife). We are seeing more women choose to birth vaginally with breech presentations because they know it's a variation of normal, and because they know that the majority of the time vaginal breech works. Therefore, I'm doing an Optibreech update.
I was very lucky to work at an NHS trust that had a Breech Birth Team, and we had annual training of Optibreech with a passionate breech midwife.
It's good to freshen up on it all, as you never know when you will be supporting a breech birth. 🥰

As professionals we have to give specific advice about co sleeping in the safest way, and of course, it's important to know what poses more risk and less. BUT, it's not as easy and putting a baby in a cot, on their back, away from blankets etc. Family life is wild, unpredictable, and eventful, and sometimes you just have to make it work as best you can.
Trust yourselves. You know how to keep your children safe (it's literally built into us). These are your babies, and you know what's best for them.
Our daughter is 6 and son 4, and they both still co-sleep with us a lot. Our daughter more so, and I wouldn't change it for the world.
This next one is going to be in out bed for as long as it wants. 👌🥰🥰🥰🩷💙
For information of safe co-sleeping, go to the Lullaby trust. A great resource.

This week, Zach helped me check and clean a pool ready for a client whose due over the next few weeks. We had lots of fun.

Also, I little photo showing how much equipment us Independent Midwives carry. It is often assumed (even by other professionals) that we don't carry any medical equipment!!
This car is an estate and my boot is full!!!

Three scans, Three babies, two of 1 s*x and one of the other!
What will this little one be!? I can't wait to find out who this little person is going to be. what they will look like, sound like. What features they will share with their brother and sister. 🥹🥹🥹 eeek.
I'm having a week of feeling so grateful for what I have and the family we have grown. Life is full of so many ups and down, you never know what's around the corner and for that I am holding this space of gratitude.
