8 weeks pregnant!

Symptoms are fun! Waves of nausea, lower abdominal discomfort, itchy ni***es! 🤭, zero energy, doesn't take me much to cry at things, napping feels like a necessity although I'm not getting them and lack of motivation is full on but overall I'm good 🤣🤣🤣

The exhaustion is hitting me hard! I went to bed last night at 8pm. Zach woke me up this morning at 7am! And I'm lying here trying to keep my eyes open!
You forget how crazy the exhaustion is!
Hubby is working days at the moment, so it's all on me today 😫😫😫
Thankfully, they are pretty happy in front of them TV for now.

I don't drink caffeine outside of pregnancy, let alone in pregnancy, but right now, it's very tempting! Haha

What equipment do I carry as an Independent Midwife?

So, many people assume an independent midwife has very little equipment, but we carry the same as any other homebirth Midwife.

The list is long but it includes things like delivery packs, future packs, drugs, catheters, resuscitation equipment, sanity items and so much more, including Entonox (gas & air).

Here is a little sneak peak into all my equipment that comes with me to a clients birth.

7 week Fetus!

Baby should now be around 1cm long and growing/developing fast.

My lower abdomin/uterus definitely feels heavy already. I can feel that it's taking up more space than normal. It's like a permanent dull ache (but not painful), just a heaviness. My intuitions tell me it's definitely growing.

Im now back from our holiday. It's been so nice to switch off a little and enjoy some sunshine.

But back now and straight into day to day life. Although it's midweek already, I've got plenty to do. I'm looking forward to catching up with 2 of my clients 🥰

A fishie dinner tonight!

I plan to try very hard to eat nutritionally and ensure I get all the vitamins and minerals without having to take supplements (natural or synthetic).

This was my pre dinner snack, starter, and main tonight. For pudding, I had an organce! Lots of vitamin C.

I absolutely love fish. I definitely think I was ancestrally from the coast.

Reasurrance for my current clients.

I've had a few people ask me how long I plan to work for and whether any of my clients are concerned about my journey affecting theirs.

The answer is: I plan to work until at least 36-37 weeks. I worked until 38+ with my daughter, and I think 37 weeks with my son. This will take me up to around July 2026 time.
I am fit and well, so I do not expect the need for any extra support, care, and management during my pregnancy.

How long I plan to stay off for - im not too sure at this stage.

My beautiful baby turned 6 today!! Happy birthday.
Goodness, me, how 6 years have flown by! I can remember her baby years like it was yesterday. I miss that version of her so much. By my goodness, she's growing to be an amazing young lady, and I love her more than I can express. It's bitter sweet; you want them to slow down, but you also can't wait to see how they grow and change. You can't win, but you wouldn't change it. 🥰😍🥰
