Revitalise Your Mind & Body: Panchakarma at ANRC Ayurvedic Spa, East Grinstead
In today’s fast-paced world, our bodies are continually exposed to stress, processed foods, environmental pollutants, and constant mental demands. Over time, these factors can lead to a buildup of toxins, referred to in Ayurveda as ama, which can cause us to feel sluggish, irritable, and unwell.
For centuries, Ayurveda, India’s ancient system of natural medicine, has offered a time-tested solution for deep detoxification: Panchakarma. And right here in East Grinstead, the ANRC Ayurvedic Spa & Panchakarma Detox Centre brings this authentic healing tradition to life.
What is Panchakarma?
The word Panchakarma means “five actions” — five therapeutic procedures designed to cleanse the body of toxins, balance the doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha), and restore vitality. Unlike quick-fix detox trends, Panchakarma works holistically:
Cleansing the body at a deep cellular level
Calming the mind through nurturing therapies
Strengthening immunity for long-term wellbeing
The ANRC Panchakarma Experience
At ANRC, the Panchakarma programme is not a one-size-fits-all package. It’s tailored by their qualified Ayurvedic Practitioner, Rini Shamal, who has over 16 years of experience and a BAMS degree from Kerala, India.
You can choose from 9-day, 15-day, or 21-day programmes, each following four carefully designed phases:
1. Initial Assessment
Your journey begins with a one-hour consultation. Here, Rini assesses your Prakriti (natural constitution) and Vikriti (current imbalance). You’ll receive personalised guidance on diet, herbal support, and therapies.
2. Pre-Panchakarma Phase
This gentle preparation phase readies your body for detox. You’ll follow a customised diet and consume ghee (clarified butter) in prescribed amounts to loosen toxins.
3 days (9-day programme)
5 days (15-day programme)
7 days (21-day programme)
3. Main Panchakarma Phase
This is where the magic happens — 2–4 hours a day of therapies such as:
Abhyanga – warm herbal oil massage
Shirodhara – warm oil poured over the forehead to calm the mind
Swedana – herbal steam therapy to open the pores
Nasya – cleansing of the nasal passages
Chakra Basti – warm herbal oil pools for back or abdomen
Bowel cleansing and other traditional detox techniques
4. Post-Panchakarma Phase
Detox doesn’t end when the treatments stop. This phase supports your digestive fire (Agni), gradually reintroduces regular foods, and helps you integrate your newfound energy into daily life.
