The Ospray has given us an amazing head start with donating tables and chairs for our play cafe, we are soo grateful.

Are there any van drivers that could give us a wee hand on Friday morning.. preferably free or cheap 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻.

Please if you know somebody, tag them.
We are a small organisation with not a lot of funds but big ambitions. Any help is appreciated ❤️❤️

We’re really proud to share that Jan is stepping into a new role at Little Brains 💙

Jan is already our Community Champion and has helped shape Little Brains through her mentorship and guidance from the very beginning. Her support, belief in the project, and steady presence have played a huge part in where we are today.

She is a deeply respected and well-loved part of the Greenhills community, and that’s where her heart and roots are. Jan understands the people here, the families, and the realities of caring, because she has always been part of this community.

Jan will be working with me to support specific areas of Little Brains as we continue to grow.
She also brings an exciting new focus, helping us develop meaningful support specifically for carers, something we know is so needed.

We’re so happy to have Jan stepping into this role, representing and strengthening Greenhills from within.

What is Unmasked? (Under 16s)

✨Unmasked is the reason we have got here and the reason we need to make this work ✨

Unmasked is a safe, relaxed space for children and young people under 16 to just be themselves and have fun!
So many kids spend their days holding it together - masking how they really feel, trying to fit in, staying quiet when they’re overwhelmed, or behaving in ways that don’t truly reflect who they are.

That’s tiring. And sometimes it all spills out later.
Unmasked is a place where they don’t have to pretend.
They can:

Be loud or quiet
Move, stim, fidget or take space
Show big emotions
Communicate in their own way
Come exactly as they are
There’s no pressure to “behave”, perform, or explain themselves.
We meet them where they are.

What about parents and carers?
While the children are in Unmasked, parents and carers aren’t left on their own.
There is peer support for parents, a chance to talk to others who get it, share experiences, or just sit with a cuppa without judgement.

Parents will also be supported by Jan from Carers Connected, who offers understanding, guidance and a listening ear for carers navigating the day-to-day challenges of supporting a child with additional needs.

Unmasked isn’t about fixing children.

It’s about letting them feel safe enough to stop hiding.
And making sure parents feel supported too.

Happy New Year from the Keegan's 💙

As we step into a brand new year, we want to take a moment to look back on just how much this community has achieved together.
This year, Little Brains has grown in ways we could only have hoped for.

✨We expanded our Unmasked Boys and Girls groups to four sessions a week, welcomed 134 new families and 17 incredible volunteers, and worked alongside brilliant community organisations like the Colts and NB Dance.
✨We ran issue-based sessions, hosted an information session with Love Autism, explored the outdoors with forest den building, and expanded our provision to include under 5s.
✨We’ve watched children grow in confidence beyond expectations - some now accessing groups and opportunities they once couldn’t.
✨We’ve seen older children become young volunteers, and volunteers complete important training, graduate, and move on to amazing jobs.
✨We formed a board, raised £800 for Waist Not Want Not to support their new building, and were blown away by the support of local businesses and donors.
We also shared some truly special moments together with an amazing Halloween party and a fab Christmas celebration.

It hasn’t all been smooth we faced challenges with our space and roof, we had a very difficult pregnancy and time off. But what stood out most was how our volunteers stepped up, held the space, and kept Little Brains going. We’ve also had ongoing challenges recruiting for our Monday night boys group, something we’ll continue working on together.

And as we look ahead… we’re so excited to say that we have secured our own building for 2026 , a huge milestone and a real sign of what’s to come.
Thank you to every family, volunteer, partner, and supporter who has been part of our journey this year. Little Brains exists because of you.
Here’s to a new year full of hope, growth, and community.

Happy New Year 💫

Excited to announce that Cosy Bakes will be supplying our cakes for our drop in cafe & parties.

If you haven't already - give them a wee follow ✅💞

We’ve all been there - babies on your hip, toddlers at your feet, and not a moment to do anything in peace.
This space is for parents, carers, grandparents and childminders who just need a breather and a bit of adult company.

But like everything we do, this service only works with extra hands. If you have a spare hour or two each week and would like to help support families, we’d love to hear from you. (Children can come with you).

It can be incredibly lonely when your only conversation all day is with a toddler.
A little kindness, a cuppa, and someone playing with the kids for ten minutes while you actually eat a sandwich can make a world of difference (speaking from experience)

Sometimes support doesn’t have to be big. It just has to be there. 💛
