February is AMD awareness month 👁

Age-related Macular Degeneration affects central vision, which we use to read, drive, and recognise faces. It is the leading cause of vision loss in people over 50 ⚠

There are two different types;

🧬Dry AMD: slow central vision loss caused by gradual thinning and deterioration of the macula (central retina)
🩸Wet AMD: less common, but more active form where abnormal blood vessels cause sudden changes like wavy or blurry central vision.
