Phew!! 😅

Well… that was an experience on being powerless over social media!

For a moment there I thought Facebook had decided I needed a forced digital detox… turns out we’re just too popular for our own good!

GOOD NEWS, we’re back!!
Busier than ever and reunited with my Facebook cheer team (I missed you all more than I care to admit )

Bad news… I can’t see any messages that were sent while we were offline.
So if you’ve been trying to get in touch, please resend, I promise I wasn’t ignoring you!

Normal scalp-loving service has officially resumed on Facebook

March is FULLY booked 🤍

We even added a few extra days and late nights… and they disappeared just as quickly. So March is FULL.

I know lots of you kindly message asking to be told about cancellations, but with the volume of messages coming in each week it’s becoming impossible to keep track of everyone individually.

The only place cancellations will be posted now is on Stories.
So keep your eyes peeled there. If anything pops up, that’s where it’ll go first. They’re rare, but life happens (kids, bugs, last-minute changes) so the odd space does appear.

A huge thank you for the support. It honestly means the world.

For anyone planning ahead, I’m fully booked for April and almost full for May. I think there are one or two May spaces left if you’re lucky.

The girls still have a few scattered April spaces available.

Good news over the Easter holidays. We’ve opened up a few evening appointments, so once the kids are down you can pop in for some relaxation and head straight home to bed after.

I watched a video of someone using a bit of card to apply root spray and to be fair, the card trick does work.

The problem isn’t the card.
It’s the blasting.

When you spray straight onto the scalp, it can hit heavier in some spots than others and leave those darker circle/ring marks. And once it’s on your head… you can’t really move it about. It just sets there.

So I commented a little suggestion I came across a while ago (and just assumed everyone knew).

The feedback was actually brilliant. A few people tried it and messaged me saying it worked… and someone even wished me a cold pillow at night 😂

So here’s your little root spray hack.

If you try it, let me know what you think.
Give it a like or drop a comment if you love these kinds of tips and I’ll share more.

Ok so this one really caught your attention it’s been the most popular conversation starter my inbox and bookings have been a bit wild, so here are the before and after.

Questions I’ve had this week.

Was the client aware?
No - they just came in to relax

Did the have any symptoms?
They didn’t think so but as we started chatting, they became aware that they itched often, their head was flaky if they wore black, their head was always tight and hair felt hard even after washing.. but thought it was normal.

Did they feel relief after that?
YES..she couldn’t stop running her hands through her hair and didn’t know her hair could feel like this, she thought she just had hard hair.

How did she not know?
Easy, plenty people walk about every day with things wrong, aches, pains and discomfort and are too busy to deal with and hope it settles and we can get used to it. We all know someone that’s walked about at some point with a broken bone and not quite realised, so scalp build up is easy missed.

Were there signs?
Yes, but again she thought it was normal loosing so much hair when washing but she had so much it wasn’t missed. Flakes? Everyone has flakes when they wear black. Itchy? Everyone with thick hair gets itchy.

So this goes to show poor scalp care can be like death by a thousand paper cuts. It’s tiny habits that have a compound effect.

Your hair can only grow healthy if the ends are cared for. A split end happens when the protective outer layer of the hair strand wears away or cracks, causing the tip to split into two or more pieces. Over time, these splits can travel up the hair shaft, leaving hair weaker, thinner, and more see-through.

Regular trims remove split ends before they travel, helping your hair grow long, strong, and evenly from root to tip. Think of a trim as a little reset, keeping your hair full, healthy, and beautiful all the way down.

HOW TO ARRIVE FOR YOUR HEAD SPA 🫧

Just a few little things to make your experience even better at Head HQ 🤍

1️⃣ Arrive 5–10 minutes early
If we’re on time, we’ll often take you early. It means we can chat through everything without eating into your treatment and you get a moment to actually sit, breathe and relax before getting on the bed.
Rushing in late? You’re only short charging yourself.

2️⃣ Wear whatever you like. Comfy wins.
Work clothes, gym wear, jammies, we don’t care.
We do suggest a vest or t-shirt under hoodies or jumpers though, as it can get quite warm while we’re drying your hair and you’ll be more comfortable.

3️⃣ Dirty hair. Yes please.
Please don’t wash it before you come. Even freshly washed hair still shows build up so let us do the job properly and enjoy someone else washing it for you.

4️⃣ Makeup. No pressure.
We don’t touch your face during a head spa and the water only reaches the very top of your forehead.
Full face, no makeup, somewhere in between, totally up to you.
If you want to bring something to touch up after, go for it.

5️⃣ Minimal jewellery
Studs are fine but avoid hoops, stacked bracelets and watches if you can.
Smartwatches off or silent. The world can wait an hour.

6️⃣ If you’re unwell, please reschedule
It’s a small treatment room and it’s not fair on anyone to come in sick, even at the end of a cold/bug.
I’ll happily move your appointment but I will turn clients away if they arrive unwell.

Your only job? Switch off. We’ll handle the rest

Psoriasis?

Honestly, when someone messages me about it, I’m so grateful and could spend all day talking about what I’ve learned.

So many people avoid hairdressers and self care because they’re embarrassed. Flakes and uneven skin. It chips away at your confidence more than people realise.

My scalp curiosity actually started with my husband’s psoriasis. I have this personality trait that if I love you, I’ll try to heal you. Definitely got that from my mum. Our whole childhood she was forever putting creams, ointments, natural remedies on us. I thought it was nonsense back then… now I really respect it and grateful for her curiosity as it sparked something in me 🥰

We’ve had drawers full of products over the years. So much trial and error. So much “try this” and “okay maybe not that.”

Is it perfect? No. He still gets the odd flare up. But it’s controlled. His skin is calmer, brighter, healthier. We’ve come a long way.

One of our head spa therapists actually came to us as a psoriasis client. After her treatments she said she couldn’t fully explain how it made her feel, she just knew she wanted to work here and help other people feel that way.

She’s training in regular head spas just now and doing brilliantly. She’s not taking on the more complex scalp appointments yet, but you’ll see her stepping into them as her experience grows.

We’re not here to cure or replace medical care. Psoriasis can be lifelong. These scalp pics look great, but the truth is it grows back, but the magic is when the skin microbiombe is rebalanced and we get rid of extra skin the relief you have from the condition for a few weeks lowers your bodies stress response.. and in time can lessen the flare ups.

We’re here to support you. To help you manage it gently and consistently. To properly cleanse the scalp, reduce buildup, and help you fall back in love with your hair a little bit.

With the right care and attention, things can improve.

And if any of our lovely clients are feeling brave enough to share how their scalp appointments have helped them, please do. It might just give someone else the confidence to take that first step 🤍
