I’ve been very quiet on here for a while, and I don’t have a normal yoga post for you! I’m excited to say that after a whirlwind few weeks, we brought our baby girl Quinn Ada Corcoran into the world on 18 August, weighing 5 lb 4 oz. Equally overwhelmed and overjoyed to be a mum of three 💛

Whenever you start something new or enter a new chapter of your life it usually feels overwhelming. It can also be accompanied by feelings of failure or inadequacy. You can be left feeling like you’ll never “get it”, never be able to live up to the expectations you or others are putting on you.

If this is you, like it has been me recently, take a step back and look how far you’ve come. Whether it was a week ago, a month ago, a year ago, reflect on what you knew or were capable of at the very start. And where you are now.

Whether it’s physically, mentally or spiritually, there will have been change. There will have been progression. You will have learned, evolved, grown.

Take the time to recognise it and give yourself a pat on the back. Whether it’s a new job, new house, new baby, taking up a new activity, starting a new hobby, moving into a new phase of life. Look back and see how far you’ve come.

You are getting there 🤍

Life has been SO busy recently. And everyone I speak to seems to be experiencing the same. Juggling kids, work, school, nursery, hobbies, side hustles, renovations, you name it. It’s amazing how so many of us are going through the same things!

We’re finally back in our house after months of building work, and I feel like I’m starting to come out the other side of the latest extreme juggling period. Yet already I’m noticing my brain jump into “what’s next?”. 🤯

So I’m trying my hardest NOT to do that. I’m trying to get my brain just to stop, recognise everything I’ve achieved over the last few months with the immense help of my family and friends, and take the time to feel proud about it. Be present in it. Smile at it.

If you’re feeling similar, I encourage you to try it too. The next load of stuff will become urgent before we know it, so take the time to notice your achievements so far, and be proud 💛

A rare non yoga picture from me on here, but wanted to share the joy and importance of holidays, especially as I am suffering from intense holiday blues on my first day back at work today!

Whether you’re able to physically get away or not, taking decent and regular breaks from day to day life is SO important for our wellbeing and happiness. Being away with two small children means there’s sadly no lie ins or time chilling reading a book, but having way fewer things to think about every day definitely felt like a break.

I’d love more recommendations for child friendly holidays, so let me know anything you’d recommend in the comments!

I’ve been pretty quiet on here over the last week or two…mainly because I had to be. My day job took an extra busy turn, my husband went away for a week and I needed to move us out of our house for the summer so the builders can knock several
walls down. So, learning from my mistakes that it is IMPOSSIBLE to do it all (or at least do it all well!) I needed to refresh my priorities. Social media took a hit, as did one of my yoga classes, and sadly some of my own practice (although I sneaked in a few 10-15 minute sessions). But by doing so, I have achieved all the things I NEEDED to do last week, knowing that some of the things I WANT to do, can be picked back up.

It’s so important to regularly check in on your priorities, and change them when needed. We can’t do everything all of the time without burning out. And burn out is no good for anyone.

So hi again 👋 hopefully you’ll see a bit more of me on here over the next few weeks as we settle into a new routine for the summer, and all my classes will be running again next week ☺️🧘

Today makes one whole year since I started my yoga insta journey, and coincidentally is also my 100th post!

THANK YOU to everyone who has liked my posts, shared a comment, reached out with kind words, come to one of my classes or simply sent positive thoughts my way. Navigating Instagram has been a world away from what I expected (new respect for “content creators”!) but I have really enjoyed it and feel so lucky that I’ve make new friends, on and off the mat, through this journey.

With some new classes in the pipeline, I look forward to sharing even more of my yoga and life musings with you over the next year.

Namaste 🙏

It can be really easy to feel like you should be progressing quicker than you are, and even give up because it’s taking too long. In so many areas of our lives, if we have an idea, vision or goal, we’re told to “make it happen” and the expectation is often “immediately”.

I started practicing yoga around 15 years ago wanting to be more flexible, expecting that I’d see results within a few weeks. Obviously I was sorely disappointed not to be in the splits within a month, but luckily I persisted, and found that yoga could offer me so much more.

My experience over the last 15 years is that positive changes in your mind and body takes time. It takes consistency. It takes patience. It takes kindness. There will be ups and downs, sometimes two steps forward one step back. But with consistency, patience and kindness, you will get the progress you’re looking for.
