Green Willow Residential Care Home is a 30 bed home, for older people in East Preston. We believe that every single one of us has our own very specific preferences and needs for the life we want to live. And we are committed to meeting those needs and respecting those choices for everyone coming into one of our homes whether they are a resident, a staff member or a visitor. We promote and support each individual’s right to dignity, empowerment, independence, choice and safety through individualised person centred care. We focus on providing effective communication and relationships through kindness, empathy, respect and trust. We believe that small details make a big difference. Our family like homes make people feel valued and that their opinions matter. These values mean a lot to each of our team and we live by them day to day – come and see for yourself.

It’s also been lovely welcoming our new wellbeing assistants, Louise and Cathy, who joined us this week. We rounded off the day with a lively game of bowling! 🎳

We found this beautiful tear jerking piece that we just had to share.

Written by Fiona, a respected journalist and former GMTV presenter aged 63, who has been courageously living with Alzheimer’s — before the condition could steal the last of her memories, she sat down to write something that would remain forever for her two sons:

“MY DARLING BOYS,
IF YOU’RE READING THIS, IT MEANS I’VE FORGOTTEN HOW TO REMEMBER. FORGOTTEN BIRTHDAYS, FORGOTTEN JOKES, FORGOTTEN OUR FAMILY SONGS IN THE CAR… MAYBE EVEN FORGOTTEN YOUR NAMES. BUT I WILL NEVER FORGET HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU.

I WANT YOU TO KNOW — I DIDN’T LEAVE YOU. ALZHEIMER’S TOOK ME SLOWLY, DAY BY DAY. AND THOUGH MY EYES MAY NO LONGER SPARKLE WITH RECOGNITION WHEN I SEE YOU, MY HEART STILL BEATS BECAUSE YOU EXIST.

YOU GAVE MY LIFE PURPOSE. YOU GAVE ME LAUGHTER WHEN I NEEDED IT MOST. YOU MADE ME PROUD EVERY SINGLE DAY, EVEN IF I CAN’T TELL YOU ANYMORE.

The final day of Sports Fest 2025 was a blast! 🎉

We wrapped things up with a lively game of hook-a-duck and an intense round of shot put. Even Jim decided he wanted to play today!

🏅 Home Manager Amy took 1st place, while Betty and Business Administrator Tiffany tied for 2nd. Fay and Douglas shared 3rd place.

We celebrated with a refreshing glass of homemade fruit lemonade 🍋✨
Already counting down the days until we do it all again next year!
