As I offer so many treatments I thought it would be handy to do a little series of posts explaining each treatment and the benefits of each so it can help you decide which one may be right for you or inspire you to try something new. The benefits of my treatments range from relaxation, pain and inflammation relief, mood regulation, improving the flow of chi and also in some cases a spiritual connection so there really is one for all. It is actually a mis conception that the deeper the massage the greater the benefits and you really don’t need to be leaving in pain or bruised to feel the benefits. All of my massages can be adapted to either suit a preferred firmness, target area or required result plus they can be tailored to combine techniques for each individual’s circumstances. You can currently try one of these massages starting from £25 for a full body experience.
Swedish massage:
Probably the most common type of massage which uses long strokes and techniques to target muscles and relieve tension. It’s great for relaxation purposes however it can be targeted to a certain area and the firmness of the strokes can be adapted to suit.
Relaxation Massage:
This is my very own signature massage. Details of this massage are available to view within my Harmonic Evolution Community Group.
Deep tissue myofascial massage:
A gentle, slow but targeted massage designed to relieve tension and tightness in the muscle and fascia to increase myofascial mobility and relieve pain and tension.
Balinese massage:
Balinese massage is a truly holistic experience and soothes and brings balance to the body and the mind. Aswell as long, slow relaxing strokes, deep tissue work and pressure point stimulations helps to release any muscle tension or tissue adhesions whilst also clearing any stagnant energy. There is also an aromatherapy element to further enhance the mind, body benefits.
Lomi Lomi:
A massage that originates from Hawaii that can also be referred to as Loving hands massage. Again this massage has many elements including a spiritual component and works to bring balance, complete relaxation and the release of negativity on a cellular level. It is based on the Hawaiian Huna principles of life, love and wellbeing. It is a seemless massage so the whole body is worked at once. It’s sometimes referred to as the 4 hand massage as the therapist can be massaging different areas at once this effect can also bring balance to the left and right hemispheres of the brain which can further enhance relaxation. It’s performed with wave like forearm strokes in a rhythmic dance like fashion. This massage is great for the ultimate relaxation and inner balance.
Thai Table Stretch massage:
Performed fully clothed this massage uses assisted yoga like stretching and soft tissue manipulation. It’s great for improving flexibility, mobility of the joints and releasing stagnant, trapped energy.
Hot stones massage:
Hot stone massage uses hot Basalt lava stones which are glided over the body with each stroke. The heat helps to melt any tension and warms up the muscles to allow for deeper work. It also adds a sensory element which can further enhance relaxation.
Pohaku Wela:
In Hawaiian Pohaku means stone or rock and Wela means hot so this is essentially a hot stone Lomi Lomi massage combining long seamless wave like strokes with the tension melting benefits of hot volcanic stones.
Aromatherapy massage:
Is the massage of many talents and uses essential oil blends to promote different benefits specific to the client including relaxation, stress relief, tension and pain relief and can help with many different conditions such as fibromyalgia, insomnia, depression and anxiety etc. Its uses very gentle, calming strokes and the aromatherapy oil is absorbed through the skin and travels via the circulatory system to achieve its required therapeutic benefits.
Dynamic Cupping:
You may of heard of cupping but you won’t be leaving me with the red/purple marks that are often associated with static cupping. Dynamic cupping also known as glide cupping uses silicone cups to glide over the body or area being treated. Unlike static cupping which causes marks due to broken blood capillaries, the negative pressure and gliding action in dynamic cupping serves to expand the blood vessels, increasing blood flow in the area whilst also improving blood circulation and lymphatic flow. Dynamic cupping also has myofascial benefits as the vacuum of the suction cup lifts up and grabs the skin and underlying fascia releasing fascial adhesions and creating space for underlying tight muscles to relax.
Gua Sha:
Gua means scrape and Sha means sand which refers to the tiny red, purple spots also know as petechiae that traditionally results from this treatment however it’s usually performed much gentler in the west. There are various different shaped Gua Sha tools which can be made from different materials such as metal, resin or crystal. I use either rose Quartz or Jade for this treatment. During a massage the Gua Sha tools are scraped across the skin to help increase blood flow and release any stagnant energy. The tools can also be used to locate and smooth out any tissue adhesions.
CBD Massage:
This massage uses CBD oil and balm. CBD is the non psychoactive component of cannabis. It is most often derived from the h**p plant to avoid the high levels of THC(psychoactive component) that ma*****na contains. The use of CBD is also completely legal. Research has found the CBD component has many health benefits. CBD has a very similar structure to our body’s own natural endocannabinoids. Our endocannobinoid system is a system of lipid based neurotransmitters which help to maintain homeostasis(balance) in the body. CBD works by attaching to receptors in the body’s endocannabinoid system helping to modulate various physiological processes such as pain perception, immune system response and mood regulation so it can have a total mind, body effect and can be beneficial for conditions such as fibromyalgia, arthritis, any other conditions associated with chronic neuropathic pain, inflammation, stress, depression, anxiety, or any other mood related disorders and can improve sleep quality. CBD massage is a great way to experience both the health benefits of CBD whilst also receiving the relaxing tension releasing benefits of a massage.
Turmeric massage:
Similar to my CBD massage this massage uses Turmeric oil. Turmeric contains high levels of its most active compound Curcumin. Curcumin is a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant so it can be very beneficial in conditions where inflammation and pain are present plus it has many skin health benefits.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage:
MLD is a specialised massage technique which uses gentle movements to stimulate the flow of Lymph fluid and help to release trapped lymph. It can help to strengthen the immune system, accelerate the natural healing process and reduce swelling so is often used post surgery and to relieve the swelling caused by Lymphoedema.
Soma Chi Flow Massage:
My very own creation combining various techniques. Again details of this treatment are available to view only in my Harmonic Evolution Community Group.☺️🌿
