Hello, today I will suggest some effects anxiety might have on people and I will offer tips to help cope with anxiety.

There are many effects that anxiety can have on us and it can often affect our day to day activities which could include:

• Being able to look after yourself
• Being able to manage to hold down a job
• Being able to form new relationships or maintain existing relationships
• Attempting new experiences
• Enjoying self-care or hobbies

Things to help with anxiety:

• Try to get enough sleep
• Try to do exercise daily
• Take deep breaths and focus on your breathing
• Limit alcohol and caffeine intake
• Count to 10 slowly or backwards from 10
• Try to eat well, having a balanced diet.
• Pick a colour and try to count the number of objects in the room that you can see of that colour.
• Maintain self-care (this is important)
• Name what your feeling
• Therapy
• Health and wellbeing apps
• Meditation and mindfulness (excellent videos on youtube)
• Avoid using your phone (social media)
• Have boundaries, learn to say no
• Yoga
• Spend time with your pet

I hope this has been helpful and given you some great tips to work on that anxiety.

Hello, so today as part of my anxiety week I will be discussing signs and symptoms of anxiety.

So here are some signs and symptoms of anxiety; some you may not even feel aware of or you might push them aside but it's important that you can recognise that you are feeling anxious and can address your anxiety, though this might be a really scary thing to have to do.

Here are some signs and symptoms:

• Feeling more tired than usual
• Struggling to concentrate or forgetting easily
• Feeling on edge or restless
• Feeling irritable
• Muscles aches from muscle tension
• Headaches
• Uncontrollable feelings and emotions
• Sleep issues
• Increased heart rate
• Sweating
• A constant feeling of feeling in danger or panic
• Stomach aches or bowel problems
• Nauseous
• Dizziness or lightheaded
• Panic attacks
• Changes to your s*x drive

This list is, of course, endless and people react differently to anxiety so it's not a one size fits all.

Tomorrow I will be discussing the effects of anxiety and tips and exercises on anxiety.

Thank you for following. 😁

Welcome to my Anxiety week! I hope this week will help some of you who might suffer from anxiety or who might be feeling quite anxious at the moment.

Today, I will discuss: What is anxiety?

So, anxiety is when we feel frightened, worried, or tense, and our bodies' normal response to a range of different situations. This list is exhaustive, but everyone is different and will have anxious feelings, severe or mild, about different things, big or small, and this is ok.

Anxiety can be bought on when we are worried about something that we know is about to happen or something that might happen in the future. Anxiety could be experienced through our senses, thoughts, feelings and physical.

Anxiety triggers the fight or flight system in our bodies and this is our natural way of the body dealing with anxiety because we feel under threat. Usually when the fight or flight system is triggered our bodies release chemicals called adrenaline and cortisol which makes us become more alert and then when the threat has gone our body will then release different chemicals which help us to relax. Ever heard of the term adrenaline rush when you get a fright and then as soon as you realize there is no threat you quickly calm down, that is what this is.

However with anxiety, we go through a similar process, but because of worries, the fight or flight situation is still there. It is ingrained in us as human beings to try to problem-solve. We try to think of ways that we can help our anxiety or worries to go away but in doing so, our anxiety builds up even more.

I hope you have enjoyed a little taster of what anxiety is. I feel that anxiety is really troublesome and can sometimes really control your life and it's not a situation that can be easily fixed, however talking about your worries can massively help, particularly in therapy.

Tomorrow I will discuss signs and symptoms of anxiety. I hope you all have a good week. 😄

Today I found myself in a moment, thinking about the tragedy in Ukraine! How frigthening must that situation be? Then I got to wondering about the ongoing pandemic and the looming hiking of bill prices. For many, all of these thoughts and feelings must weigh down heavy on our shoulders. The current situation within our society screams ANXIETY, PANIC and STRESS!! In these times I feel it is so important to talk and listen to eachother and check in more regularly than we might usually. I also sometimes find it helps to avoid social media and news bulletins to relieve the anxiety. A couple of other important exercises to try is; breathing exercises and grounding yourself, meditation (excellent videos on youtube) and counting to 10 maybe even taking the time to stop and look around your surroundings and see how many objects you can count of a ceftain colour.

With all of these current anxiety provoking situations, I have decided that from monday I will be doing a week of posts on anxiety, so watch this space 😁 for now stay safe, well and remember to reach out and talk.
