Hi everyone,

Just posting to let you all know that I will be having to rearrange all my appointments for the next couple of weeks / weekends.
Sadly my grandma passed away unexpectedly last weekend and so I have been taking some time with family to deal with this.
I will be staying in Guernsey until next weekend so any Uk clients I have booked in, I will be in contact with you to rearrange for the following week (week beginning 8th September).
Guernsey clients - I was due for my visit 4-7th Sept and have all your bookings (thank you). As the funeral is now due to fall on this date, what I will now be doing is working tomorrow - Wednesday. I’ll message everyone who has booked in to see if I can rearrange you now for this week coming😊. Im so sorry for this very sudden change, if it doesn’t work diary wise I will try and get another trip in sooner so we will sort something! If there is anyone else who would like an appointment now I’m here please message and I’ll see what I can do.
Bare with me in Guernsey - I had to travel back to Guernsey from a weekend away in a hurry so haven’t got anything with me - a quick scurry around town to find some jeans (why does nobody stock a long length anywhere!) and a sweatshirt means I’m good to go but obviously won’t be in my usual uniform. 99% of my work is done with my hands so it shouldn’t be a problem - however if I feel the equipment / laser would have been beneficial I will come back to you to use it free of charge when I can in addition to this appointment as I don’t have it with me.

Thank you in advance for understanding 💕🙏. See you all soon x

Hi everyone!
Just popping a post here now before I inevitably start another task and then I’m too late 😂

I’d just like to wish all my wonderful clients the best of luck at GHOYS this week!
I am there Wednesday and Friday (I’ve been roped into showing the shetlands whilst my boys having some time away from competing - eventing vs shetland showing.. I wonder which wins 😜🤣) so do pop over to say hi or see how I can help your lovely animals 🐶🐱🐴🦄.

My next work visit is the 4-7th September (unless anything urgent this week) so let me know if you’d like an appointment and a day/time and I’ll do my best to accommodate 😊

Lovely to see a well deserved win for the gorgeous cheeky Rolo & Holly after his treatment on Wednesday 🤩

Lovely to see a well deserved win for the gorgeous cheeky Rolo & Holly after his treatment on Wednesday 🤩

Congratulations to Holly Greenslade who won our sponsored class at the British Show Jumping Guernsey Summer Show on Gelligaredig Rolo. Holly was presented with a trophy and rosette by our Clinical Director Sarah-Jane Heathcote. Great to see competitors enjoying themselves on a wonderfully presented show ground. Thanks to the hardworking BS Committee and all their helpers!

Hi everyone!

Just a little note for all my Guernsey clients for my trip next week - I will get your appointment dates/times out to you asap. I’ve you’ve messaged/called/emailed I’ve got you booked in 👍. If there is any further bookings or any amendments to your availability that you’ve sent me please can you let me know within the next 24hours.
I’m hoping to get the times to you before I go away competing on Thursday but I have a bit of a mammoth task to get this done alongside this weeks work - we’re talking 40+ appointments & my first work trip to Sark to sort 😝. Thank you all SO much for keeping me so busy, I’m forever grateful and honestly love working with your lovely animals 🥰.

Pic to make this post slightly more interesting of my boy doing his plyometrics exercises today!

Looking forward to seeing you all soon.

Just a reminder to any new clients who fill out my contact form on the website - if there is no horse name, vet practice or yard postcode filled out I do not contact you back.
I do all of my own admin and do not have time to filter through scams - for this reason unless this information is filled out I do not contact you.
Having just your name put into every box with a ‘unique’ area code on the phone number and the message ‘urgent’ or ‘please contact me I beg you’ (yep, emails from this morning 😂) will mean you don’t receive a reply. If you don’t want to give your details straight away please give me a ring explaining and I’ll happily get back to you 😊.
Thanks in advance 🙏.

GUERNSEY VISIT 1-4th MAY
If anyone is wanting to book in for next week please drop me a message / email to get booked in asap - if you’ve already done so then I’ve got your booking and times will be out tomorrow ☺️.
I know I tried to be organized and sent the booking emails before my holiday a couple of weeks ago, but I sent them at the same time as the reports and someone’s just let me know this has meant one or both have ended up in some junk mail because I did them too close together (🤦🏼‍♀️). IT is clearly not my strong point, can you tell? 😂
So if you do want to book in please let me know - I have 2/3 rare spaces available with clients away (I haven’t advertised my trips for a loooong time as they’re fully booked ☺️☺️) so I can take on new clients too if anyone would like a horse or dog booked in.
See you all soon x

P.S how cute is this picture 🥹

*** COLIC MYTH - IT’S ESSENTIAL TO WALK ANY HORSE SHOWING SIGNS OF COLIC ***

Reposting this, as I was asked about it yesterday from someone who had seen incorrect advice!

I think one of the main myths surrounding colic, is that you must walk them, even if they don’t want to walk. There are definitely some types of colic when movement is good/essential for the horse, but there are equally many occasions when it’s actually detrimental to keep the horse moving.

Before knowing whether or not you need to keep your horse moving, you need your vet to diagnose what is causing your horse to colic. If your horse has a classic “twisted gut” then no amount of movement will help. In fact, forcing horses to walk if they’ve got intestinal torsion will result in extreme pain. If surgery is an option, then continuing to walk a horse with intestinal torsion (twisted gut) will also wear him out, and potentially cause even more damage to the gut itself, reducing the odds of surgery being a success.

My general rule of thumb for any colicking horse is to allow them to do what they want to do whilst waiting for the vet. If they are standing quietly, then that’s perfect. If they are down in the field then I do normally advise getting them up and to somewhere easily accessible for the vet. If they are thrashing about in a stable and could hurt themselves, then getting them out and into the safety of a lunge pen or arena is a good idea, as long as you don’t risk injuring yourself. If they want to march around, then let them walk. It’s a complete myth that a horse rolling around will result in him twisting his intestine; we’d obviously be seeing hundreds of colic cases daily if this were true.

To conclude, walking a horse with colic MAY be advisable, but you need your vet to diagnose the cause of the colic first. If your horse is reluctant to walk, then definitely don’t force them to move.

Feel free to share, but not to copy and paste.

Just putting feelers out there - for both UK and Guernsey clients.
Would any horse riders be interested in a personalized strength and conditioning assessment, session and plan?
We’re thinking of expanding into this area with J Rose. A quick plan has us thinking that it would look like myself doing my usual Equine physio assessment and treatment - and whilst I’m treating, a Strength and conditioning coach (my partner, Jonny Meardon) would complete a S&C session with you at your yard at the same time? We can then come together and compare your strengths and ‘areas to improve’ with the findings on your horse and make up a plan for you? Ongoing S&C could also be available remotely following this and follow up in person assessments and new plans obviously available too.
This wouldn’t be a human physio session so wouldn’t be available for any injury rehabilitation (at the moment - I’m working on myself adding this in too, I just have to sort it with my other job 🤞) but is for those who want to improve their symmetry and strength in the saddle for you and your horse - after all we’re always striving to be the best for our 4 legged friends aren’t we 😉

If anyone is interested in this please do let me know and hopefully we can get a plan in place!

Happy New Year!

A little late I know but I finally sort of feel like saying it! As a few of you already know, we sadly lost the original J Rose Equine Physio horse, Rolex on the 2nd January in a freak field accident 😭💔 I’m still feeling absolutely heartbroken but am back working as usual - it’s been lovely to have your pony and puppy cuddles to help ☺️
This post wasn’t intended to be sad - it was actually to come on here to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who offered their help last Thursday - I had so many of you wonderful clients and friends offer companion ponies and transport help at the drop of a hat - and of course such kind words. Thankfully our little Buddy 🐴 who was just as heartbroken as us has found a little friend to keep him company. I know I haven’t replied yet, I haven’t really wanted to open it and go back over it to be honest, so I thought I’d start with a general thank you and work my way up to it from there!
It means so much to our whole family that you’d all be so willing to help out, so thank you so so much again.

I am back in Guernsey working the 23-26th January - I’ve just sent out my usual emails for bookings for this so I will get times out to you next week if you’d like an appointment 😊
My next Guernsey visit after this will be the 20-23rd February. I’ll do a rest of the year dates shortly once I’ve worked out my own eventing and running schedule for the year!

Wishing all of my truly wonderful clients a very Merry Christmas and a Healthy and Happy New Year!
I hope your animals are behaving better than mine 😂😅🐶🐱
Thank you for all of your support this year - to have grown the business as much as we have this year is beyond what I could’ve hoped for, and all thanks to all of you! 💖
I’m looking forward to catching up with you all in the new year!

Guernsey visit next week - 🇬🇬 31st October - 3rd November 🇬🇬

If you are looking to book in an appointment please could you drop me a message / email sooner rather than later? I’ve just been asked to cover some work at a vets practice so just need to let them know if it’s doable or not after my pony numbers! 😊
Sorry for the chase (I don’t mean it to be!) And I know I sent them emails out late so haven’t given you much time!

If you’ve already emailed/messaged I’ve got your booking and I’ll get times out to you later this week! ☺️

GUERNSEY VISIT NEXT WEEK ‼️
I am trying to get the times out to you this weekend but please bare with me - I’m just trying to see if I can stay an extra night as it’s going to be an absolutely fully booked weekend - also apologies I’ve had to pop some early mornings and late evening appointments in just to try and make it work for everyone! (If you’re happy to be an early bird or night owl do let me know - but only if you’ve already emailed/messaged me - unfortunately I cannot fit anyone else in, but do hold a cancellation list).
Thank you so much for keeping me this busy 🥹 (42 animals in 3.5 days! 😳)
so proud of how my little business has grown just through word of mouth. 🥹
