Listen live from inside the hospital via the Hospedia bedside units or from wherever you are via our website www.radiodgheastbourne.com Radio DGH is Eastbourne's hospital radio station broadcasting 24 hours a day. It's made up of a dedicated band of volunteers manning many of our on air hours. Don't think it is all continuous music!! Our daytime schedule consists of a great mix of shows including

our specialist selection ranging from big band music to show tunes. As with any station, Radio DGH has general running costs and is also looking for ways to improve our service and output. We are a registered charity and receives no official funding. The volunteers contribute personally through their annual subscription and we are also given an annual grant by The Friends Of Eastbourne Hospital. These monies only go so far and so we are constantly looking for ways to raise much needed funds, normally through events and - more recently - through a newly-created sponsorship package. Anyone organising an event or who runs a local business and is interested in assisting our fund-raising efforts is welcome to get in touch. Love music? If you love music of many kinds of music and would like to be a part of the team then, again, we'd love to hear from you. You must be at least 18 years of age. Don't worry if you're nervous about talking on the radio, we can nurture you along but there are also behind-the-scenes positions available, particularly as a request collector/production assistant. This would involve interacting with patients by going onto the wards and gathering requests and promoting the station. If you want to get involved please contact the Voluntary Services office of the hospital by calling 01323 417400 and asking for the Voluntary Service office. Alternatively, you can contact us and we can do the rest. We've been a part of the life of this hospital for over 60 years and would love to keep going for many many more, and you could be a part of it in a whole variety of ways.

The Tuesday Evening Show is back from 6pm with Shaun Crowhurst.

This week Shaun will be joined by Domenico Della Valle and Gareth Jones. Domenico is the founder and director of Crossing the Screen who are behind the Eastbourne International Film Festival.

Gareth is the chairman of Hailsham Pavilion Cinema who are hosting Film Sussex - Crossing the Screen Weekend Film Challenge in May.

The Eastbourne International Film Festival , under the umbrella of Crossing The Screen, was created with a simple idea: to make cinema accessible, inclusive, and meaningful—especially for young people and emerging voices. What started as a small, grassroots project has grown into a 9-day festival connecting international filmmakers with local communities across Eastbourne, Hailsham and Sussex coast line.

Yesterday at our open day we had the pleasure of welcoming a very special guest.

Pictured is Robin Foster. Robin and his late wife Ruth volunteered at St Mary’s Hospital from where we were founded in 1951. Robin volunteered as a chaperon transporting patients to the chapel for the radio service during the late 60’s into the early 70’s. In 1976 Robin and Ruth joined Radio DGH presenting a 2 hour weekend show from our original studio prior to the two studios we currently have now.

A remarkable man with a remarkable story. Thank you for coming to see us, Robin!

The pair will be joining David Watts on Afternoon Delight to talk and the groups’s upcoming production ‘Allo Allo 2 - The Camembert Caper’ taking place between the 6th and 9th of May at Polegate Community Centre.
