The most basic and powerful way to connect to another person is to listen. Just listen.
Perhaps the most important thing we ever give each other is our attention….
A loving silence often has far more power to heal and to connect than the most well-intentioned words ..

This incredibly moving poem was shared by Lynn, in February 2022. We wanted to re-share it and thank Lynn for sharing her family’s story with us, along with her incredibly moving poem, Stay.

'My dad is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s, and I find it so upsetting already to see the changes from the man he once was.

'He finds it difficult at the moment as he is very much aware of what is happening to him, and keeps saying to us that 'this is not how he expected to be, it shouldn’t be like this' and similar phrases.'

I’m watching you face away.

Stay.

I’m watching you forget.

Don’t go yet.

I’m watching you go within,

the lights go dim,

don’t give in.

I’m watching you fade away,

… please stay.

Spring Sprigs by Madeleine says “art helps me with my illness, when I’m well it’s what I do, when I’m under the weather, it’s what I think about!”
