The joy of walking
With old friends
Telling stories
Listening
Sharing
Resting
Sweating
Falling over
Getting up
Laughing
Crying
Crying with laughter
Eating
Drinking
Reenergising.

Almost 20 years of visits to Castlerigg in Keswick with old work colleagues now old friends. To our futures, to our passed loved ones, to our remembered times together.

And special thanks to Andy Dale for the supplies of black peas and bara brith for the walks up Waller Crag and along Latrigg. 🤩😅😆🥾❄️🏔️

We used to go to crowd into the Glasgow School of Art Shows in the 1990s, hoping to witness the discovery of the next Jenny Saville.

There was only one.

Simply spellbinding.

The best exhibition I’ve seen this year.

Jenny Saville at The National Portrait Gallery, for two weeks more.

Why get up at 5am on a Sunday?
This sky.
That sea.
Just me.
Swimming in the high-tide, still sun-warm silky water
Treading water to watch sandlings bobble along the shoreline
Imagining being a seal.
Being nature.

Meet the Eastbourne Beach Sauna Friday 8am gang.

The has brought us together and it’s there we talk about our week, our wellbeing, we dip in the sea and we sauna - of course. Joe has started he’s been so inspired by the mental health benefits of sea swimming.

The staff are just the best and they’re hoping their sauna will get long term planning permission, beyond its current temporary one.

If you love our local sauna as much as we do please support the plans for putting down roots and growing. There’s a link here that takes you to the council planning application page.

Ever thought about taking the ferry for your holiday?

This is our first as foot passengers and it’s so easy. Everything’s calmer, from checking in to disembarking.

If you can get your head around the idea that the journey is part of the holiday, it’s relaxing and really quite fun. I lolled about reading, sipping a beer, popped out to watch the container ships in the Channel.

First stop; Rouen after a train from Dieppe.

Love this 💕

Could you lead an event on Saturday 13 July from 10am-12noon to come together in peace and compassion, alongside our friends in yoga, Sama Fabian and ?

The idea is to simultaneously practice gentle, inclusive forms of yoga, such as meditation and yoga nidra, to create a welcoming environment where everyone can experience both personal and communal healing, and the power of yoga to foster peace.

If you'd like to take part, please send details of your event to communications@bwy.org.uk so we can add the details to our news story.

There’s been plenty of frustration over the past few months - mostly over things that I can’t control.

That’s the thing though, isn’t it - you can’t control a great deal of what can impact your wellbeing.

But what you can control - how you put effort into caring for yourself - really can help you weather the storms. You sleep better. You feel better. You feel stronger. You eat better. You’re more present. You make better choices.

This month I’ll be 59 and I think I’m probably physically stronger than I’ve ever been. I achieved a PB of deadlifting 68kg today (that’s 10 stone 7 to those of us who still weigh stuff in imperial).

There’s a lot that goes into my wellbeing these days. Yoga, as ever, getting out in nature, meditation, pranayama and walking.

But huge thanks to and especially trainers Jo, Steph and Sheree, as well as the magnificent women I get to share sessions with, for helping me achieve my ambition to be stronger.

Wishing you all fab weekends. 😘

Such a treat at this time of year. And I love how you get to keep the videos so you can repeat whenever you want.

Our story

I'm dedicated to helping my clients free themselves from what holds them back.

I specialise in helping clients with food issues. Whether you overeat or withhold food from yourself, or both, very often these behaviours are a response to long-held, deep-rooted, often subconscious beliefs that have nothing to do with food itself. That’s why more than 90% of dieters fail to keep the weight off in the long term. They’re focused on the destination, not the obstacles they’ll meet on the journey, or the baggage they’re already carrying.

But changing our beliefs and changing our thoughts, and letting go of the baggage, changes our habits of action.

This process worked for me, freeing me from limiting beliefs and habits I’d held on to for decades. Yes, being overweight hurt me, but it also kept me safe from being truly seen.
