Our CEO Colin Twomey and Sophie Bishop, one of our social workers, took part in a day of action at the Houses of Parliament.

As part of a national fairer funding campaign by Hospice UK, they joined hospices from across England in a united call for change. Nurses and hospice leaders came together to urge immediate action on funding, as growing pressures push services to their limits.

Colin and Sophie were there to represent the voice of St Wilfrid’s Hospice, our dedicated colleagues, and the people we support across our local community, sharing why hospice care must be properly funded for a sustainable future.

Standing alongside so many passionate hospice colleagues today was a powerful reminder of what’s at stake — and why we will continue to speak up for hospice care for generations to come 💛

Help meet the cost of our compassionate care.

“Here at St Wilfrid’s, our compassionate care starts and ends with my amazing team of nurses.

I’m Charlie, Inpatient Unit Team Leader. In moments that are really difficult for patients and their loved ones, we all come together. We scoop them up and give them the best end of life care possible.

When someone first comes onto the unit, we often begin by taking their pain away, which can make such a difference to how they feel.

As you know, this specialist care comes at great cost, which is why St Wilfrid’s is hoping to raise £46,415 (the average cost of a year of nurse care) by 15th May.

Will you give £25 which could go towards an hour of specialist nurse care and help us meet our target?”

Charlie
