Located on the wall in the central Street area at the hospice, our beautiful Memory Tree is there for all visitors to view and enjoy.

The tree features delicate Cow Parsley flower heads and butterflies, each one telling a story of love and remembrance🌸

By dedicating a leaf, flower head or butterfly, you’ll be helping to raise vital funds for St Wilfrid’s Hospice, enabling us to support more patients and their families.

If you’d like to make a dedication or have any questions about the Memory Tree, please contact Jenna Stringer on 01323 434216 or visit https://www.stwhospice.org/support-us/donate/in-memory-of/memory-tree/

Looking to move into the new year with intention? Join St Wilfrid’s Hospice as a volunteer! 🌟

Volunteering with us isn’t just about giving your time — it’s about becoming part of a warm, supportive community where every moment you share makes a meaningful difference.

Just ask Michael Jones, one of our long-standing volunteers.

For 22 years, Michael has supported St Wilfrid’s in roles ranging from Community Support Volunteer to helping at major fundraising events like our Gala Dinners, Starlight Stroll and Open Gardens.

After retiring, Michael felt compelled to give back:

‘I’ve been blessed in life and wanted to support my community. St Wilfrid’s was the place I felt my experience could help people. It’s a privilege to volunteer here, it’s made me a better person, given me purpose, and I’ve met incredible people. If you’re thinking of volunteering, just do it — you won’t regret it.’

Michael’s story is just one example of the joy, connection, and meaning you can find when you join our volunteer family.

Whether you’re welcoming visitors at the hospice, helping in one of our shops, or supporting events in the community, you’ll meet amazing people, learn new skills, and play a vital role for local families when they need it most. 💛

We would like to remind all of our café customers, patients and families that the Street Café will be closed from Sunday 11th January until Monday 26th January whilst we carry out essential maintenance.

During this time, Tuesday afternoon Living Well Hub drop-ins will be paused. All other groups and outpatient appointments will continue as usual.

We would like to assure anyone staying on our Inpatient Unit that we will still be providing patient meals, and visitors will have access to hot drinks and microwave facilities.

If you are coming for an appointment or visiting a patient, you will be able to enter the building as normal, with our Welcome Point team available to guide you.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Did you receive duplicate gifts at Christmas? Or perhaps some lovely items that you simply won't use? We would be so grateful for any unopened bottles of alcohol or soft drinks, toiletries, or candles to use as raffle and tombola prizes at our fundraising events throughout the year. We are also hunting for single bottle bags.

Every donation helps us raise vital funds for hospice care.

Are you ready for something new in 2026? Volunteering can be a wonderful way to put your skills to good use, meet new people and feel a part of something. And we have a host of new roles on offer.

Our Therapies Volunteer Drivers provide transport for patients and carers to and from the hospice, allowing attendance to therapy appointments for patients who could not otherwise access them.

Volunteers will use their own vehicles to transport patients. We ask for a commitment to a maximum of eight weeks at a time with a particular patient and carer.

If this sounds ilke something you might be interested in you can find out more about this and other roles at stwhospice.org/volunteer-vacancies
