It might be Blue Monday… so naturally we ignored it 🌸

Instead, we opened a pop-up flower shop at Chaseley. Bright flowers, big colours, and even bigger smiles. Staff and residents had a great time choosing blooms, swapping them, and pretending we all know a thing or two about flower arranging.

“If you tend to a flower, it will bloom, no matter how many weeds surround it.” 😉

Friday night was all about music and fun at Chaseley's nightclub. The weekend called for something slower — a bit of rest, a good film, and time together.
So we rolled up our sleeves and did some baking. These homemade tarts didn’t last long and went down a treat with afternoon tea.

Sausage tasting at Chaseley… serious business 🌭
When we recently changed suppliers, a few people let us know the sausages weren’t up to par. So we did the sensible thing — we tasted them. Old English, Cumberland, Lincolnshire, vegetarian… six different types in total.

The verdict?
🏆 Lincolnshire for meat
🏆 Cheese and leek for vegetarian

Comments ranged from “too bland” and “not enough herbs” to “too chewy”, “too dry” and, of course, the best answer “yum”.

Not sure how anyone managed dinner after all that tasting, but it was great fun and everyone had their say.

Eighty years ago, our doors opened to injured servicemen who needed care, time, and somewhere to feel safe again. Since then, thousands of lives have passed through Chaseley — people who arrived at a turning point and found care, friendship, laughter, and belonging.

To mark this milestone, we’re planning a year of celebrations and stories, sharing 80 years of life at Chaseley — the people, the moments, and the everyday kindness that makes this place what it is.

We’ll also be running a few fundraisers to help refresh the building, making sure it’s ready for the years ahead.

Airbourne will, of course, be the highlight of our 80th year — and we’re already planning a party you won’t want to miss.

Have a Chaseley story to share? An idea for a fundraiser? Want to get involved? We’d love to hear from you.

We love animals at Chaseley. 🐾

From gentle visits to quiet moments of connection, animals bring so much to daily life here. A soft nose to stroke, a wagging tail, a shared calm. For many residents, animal therapy sparks memories, lifts mood, and brings comfort without a word being said.

Animal-assisted therapy plays a real role in wellbeing, supporting mental health, reducing anxiety, and encouraging social interaction for people living with complex neurological disabilities.

A bit of hands-on creativity this week as we made fridge magnets. We rolled out the clay, shaped it, and cut it into form. Fingers busy, ideas flowing.

Next week, we’ll be painting our mini masterpieces. 🎨

A big thank you to the incredible students of for giving us a hand.

Although we were loving the sunshine, it was still a bit chilly outside, so it was a good day to stay warm indoors and keep the old brain working. 🧠❄️

“Use it or lose it,” as they say. Out came the crossword puzzles, pencils poised, brows furrowed. The room fell quiet with concentration. You could almost hear the brain cells ticking, one clue at a time.

We got creative with a 3D still life activity this week 🎨

Each piece was made by individual residents, with gentle guidance from our activity team. Bold choices, interesting colours, and real care in every detail.

Spring may still feel a long way off, but a bit of colour goes a long way. 🌸

It ain’t over till… we go to the pantomime! 🎭

A small group headed to the theatre this past week for a proper laugh, a bit of shouting at the stage, and plenty of smiles all round.

Getting out into the community, sharing a joke, and enjoying a day like everyone else. Just how it should be.

The holidays may be over… but the music clearly isn’t 🎻✨

Violinist Miriam Eiselle came to Chaseley to keep the tunes going, and the room loved it.

Music is therapy here. It lifts mood, brings memories flooding back, and turns an ordinary day into something special. Christmas songs in January still work their magic.

Thank you, Miriam, for sharing your talent and your time 💙
