In my years of being a coach I have learnt two very important things, make exercise fun, and rewarding! This is what I try to encourage and programme with my own training and sessions for my clients. I am a keen coach of CrossFit Coach and functional movements follower, so I encorporate the coaching styles and movements of CrossFit into my clients sessions as much as possible, so make it the most fun it can be! No more tiresome running on the treadmill! I'll make you avoid the machines and work your body as hard as a 10mile run! Sessions are never predictable as each day the exercises change. Through my passion I hope, together I can open your eyes to different methods of exercise and, show you the right techniques by which you can achieve your goals. What is Health? 🤔
Many of us just focus on the physical side of health, but as is becoming much more apparent (thankfully), health is far more than just the physical side
Your actions are shaped by 5 other facets, psychological, social, intellectual, emotional, and economic areas of health
Therefore, when anyone offers you advice on a professional level, they should consider these factors. Everyone is different... and everyone may have an area that is far more important than another...
For example someone from a different ethnic background may have a greater social impact.
Promoting health does not mean we merely seek the absence of disease!

Non-Scale Victories ✌️
Hugely under-rated but should be the most important thing to track in any health journey 🙏
🔹️Do you have more energy?
🔹️Do your clothes fit better?
🔹️Do you sleep better?
🔹️Is your skin better?
🔹️Do you have less bloating?
🔹️Is your hair stronger?
🔹️Do you have more drive in life?
These amounts others are what I drive to track with my clients, it's so important to keep a measure of external factors so when perhaps scales don't move (as sometimes they don't) we have another measure of success to track ✌️

Is Sweat a fitness goal? 💦
Time and time again with new clients or even more experienced gym goers the concern at the end of a session will be the intensity of sweat...
Not enough sweat = bad session...
But here's the thing, sweat is hugely individualised to someone...
It all depends on:
🔹️Gender
🔹️Bodyweight
🔹️Exercise Intensity
🔹️Humidity
🔹️Health/illness
🔹️Pre exercise Hydration status
With the same work two different people will sweat differently 🙏
Remember staying hydrated is important for exercise as it can affect performance, but conversely don't worry if you're not sweating enough but still working hard!
I can sweat standing next to a hot radiator with a coat on, doesn't mean I'll get fit 👍

Nutrition for the Elderly 👴👵
First off and the biggest thing that can be challenging is understanding that with nutrition it is NEVER too late to implement change! Some changes can have immediate effects!
🔸️Protein... is massive for everyone, especially elderly as bones become more brittle, more issues with health issues so protein improves immunity and healing
🔹️Top Tip, if ordering home delivery for someone you know...order from a sports delivery service, these meals are packed with protein, calorie controlled compared to other home delivery services
🔸️Vitamin D & Calcium supplementation...often elderly people spend less time outside...causing lack of vitamin D absorption...Vit D and calcium helps increase bone density.
🔹️Top Tip...using a multivitamin daily, especially high in these two micronutrients will help!
🔸️Fish Oils & Creatine...increase muscular strength and Cognitive function! This isn't just for athletes...taking these 2 supplements or including more oily fish within a diet can go a long way to preventing cognitive issues ✅️
🔹️Top Tip...take these every day alongside multivitamins...easy and avoids being missed in general diets
🔸️Lastly and often most importantly, Age Related WeightLoss...this tends to show a sign of mobility and can happen for a bounty of different reasons. When this happens often protein goals can be missed and macronutrients, therefore it is especially important to focus on what someone who is eating less is actually consuming
🔹️Top Tip...Each meal contains at least 20g/protein per serving
As with everyone, nutrition for any population isn't one size fits all...but these facts are something that's going to affect us all...
So if you know of an elderly friend or relative...let them know what you've learnt!

This is a saying my Nana always used to say ❤️
And I want to explain it a little more...
In society now it's becoming more and more common to quit something half way through, or to give up...and almost become socially acceptable 🤔
Perhaps it's because being able to start anything we want is becoming much easier than it ever has before...
But what I want to emphasise is:
🔸️Only do something that you truely want to do
🔸️Have a goal that excites you and brings you true joy
🔸️Be focused and resilient
🔸️Ask for help on the way
🔸️Don't settle for anything less than what you truely want/deserve
This is a general message for life but also with the gym and your nutrition...
If you've choosen to do something it's bloody worth doing it to your best! 🙏

Radio silence...not on purpose but from being so busy 🙌
Have to say,
🔹️Basically doing a degree in nutrition with
🔹️Moving house and renovating it
🔹️Running a business
🔹️Spending time around family...
After all that, it basically doesn't leave a lot of room for much else! 🫠
But this was me on Saturday at the MNU HQ studying how best to tackle the exams in September...it's all getting real now with only 11 or 10 weeks left of lectures and content. It is absolutely crazy how much I've learnt, how much it's changed my understanding, and how excited I am at using the learnt knowledge to help others 🙌
The main thing I've learnt so far is how multi-faceted nutrition actually is...it's never one size fits all
Anyway, hope we have all been keeping well, moving pain free and being your awesome selves whilst I've been a little on the quiet side. Fear not, more useful content is to come!

Why use them?!
Well, all the reasons listed above of course!
This method can be easily done, but also can be easily done wrong for someone who hasn't been trained to use them 👌
Thanks to on a weekend residential I learnt how to properly use, and how to properly implement this method of tracking with my clients...
How to measure exact points around the body for measurements to they're taken from the same spot each, and every time!
Also why it should NOT be used to workout body fat percentage...
So use this method to track specifically where you're losing weight from and by how much! 🙌

Kirsty came to me needing some help shifting some weight off for important meetings and dates in the summer months! It's been a great success!
To put her weight loss into other numbers...
1KG body far loss is 7700Kcals worth of a deficit/energy reduction...
So a 5kg loss = 38,500Kcals worth of choosen avoided calories during a weight loss phase.
Pretty staggering right?
But the thing here is how easy Kirsty found it.
Yes I checked in with her daily, but she almost didn't need it!
The strategy we took worked so well that it was easy to stick to, and didn't struggle at all! 🙌
She's continuing her journey and success and it's been amazing to see her self determination now 🙏
All this, whilst only training 2, at most 3 times a week...
Nutrition is king folks for weight loss, and you all know it anyway!

CrossFit Level 2 acquired ✅️
As always a fantastic course, run by motivating people, and teaching great valued points 🙌
Core points from the course:
🔹️Be a relentless coach- never give up on people moving well for movement standards and performance points 🏋‍♂️
🔹️Group Management is key to be able to deliver the best class and give everyone a coaching point 🤓
🔹️Hip extension is the foundation for 90% of full body movements - "Hips, Hips, Hips"
🔹️Coach someone close to you in a class, and someone far away to engage the whole room
Although I'm not a fan of these courses having an "expiry", but I love being around like-minded individuals giving me the fire in my belly to be a better coach and deliver the highest standard possible 🙌
It wasn't a ground breaking course but great for motivating me to keep the highest standards for everyone. Either 1-2-1 or in a group setting 🙌

🙌 I'm very excited to announce that I'm now able to take on private 1-2-1 clients within Eastbourne! 👋
Coaching out of .rx, in a small studio room, perfect for a truely private session. No distractions, no one else, just me, you, some gym equipment and results! Almost like the old days of PT back in the homegym! 🏋️‍♂️
Alongside this, I'm coaching CrossFit classes here as well, so if you're in the Eastbourne area, and fancy some coaching. In either a private capacity or in a group. This is the place! 🙌

Cannot shout about this anymore!!!
The biggest thing that will impact your diet is:
⭐️ ADHERENCE ⭐️
If you cannot stick to the plan you've set out, even in the worst days, it's basically pointless! 🤷‍♂️ I genuinely think this isn't spoken about enough.
It needs to be a plan you can follow, which keeps you in a calorie deficit on the worst/hardest days. This isn't an easy thing to find, however it's the most important thing to find! 🫠
