After the excitement of Green Week, our lovely residents took things nice and easy today 💛. The morning was all about relaxing with puzzles 🧩🧠 and the afternoon saw a few friendly matches of dominoes 🎲😄 — perfect for a cosy start to the week!

What an eco-tastic way to wrap up Green Week — our Eco Fair was buzzing today! 💚💛 From fabulous stalls to tasty treats, there was so much to see, do and enjoy 🌱✨

A HUGE thank you to all our amazing stall holders who joined us Diva Spa With Toni, kiwipots, Tropic by Toni, Not even a mouse, Sewing With Reclying in mind, A Touch Of Gentleness🌸🫧 and of course to Trevor & Kristy from East Sussex WRAS for swooping in with their wonderful wildlife wisdom 🦉💚

We haven’t counted exactly how much we raised yet… but let’s just say there were more than a few notes in that donation pot 😉💷💚

🌿💚 Green Week Day 6 – Beechwood Grove is Eco-Fair Ready! 💚🌿

Preparations were in full swing today as our residents got creative ahead of tomorrow’s Eco Fair 🎉🌱. This morning they were busy making the eco-friendly packaging for this afternoon’s delicious creations – bouquet garni, herb butter and herb salt 🌿🧄🧂.

Of course, no Green Week afternoon would be complete without a little taste test at Happy Hour 😋🍹✨ – and our residents (and staff!) gave their homemade treats a big thumbs up! 👍🌱

🌿💚 Green Week Day 5 – Out & About with Beechwood Grove! 💚🌿

What a green-tastic day we’ve had! 🌎✨ This morning our residents headed to the gorgeous Saltmarsh Farmhouse at the stunning Seven Sisters 🌊🏞️. They learnt all about the café’s amazing eco-friendly practices – from using water & vinegar to wash up 🫧♻️ to sourcing local supplies to cut their carbon footprint 🥕🍞👏.

Back home the excitement continued as the Human Fruit Machine came alive 🍊🍏🍌🎰 – always a giggle and a half! Our wonderful team dressed head-to-toe in green 💚🌿 while hosting a coffee afternoon for Macmillan Cancer Support ☕🍰🎗️ – a lovely way to round off the day.

🌿💚 Green Week Day 4 Fun at Beechwood Grove! 💚🌿

Today was a ribbit-ing day! 🐸✨ Our residents were joined by some very special little visitors for an inter-generational Tots Play Eastbourne play session with an environmental theme – and yes… there were baby frogs to marvel at! 🐸👶🌱

Meanwhile our fabulous duo – the two Jeans 👭 – whipped up a firm favourite… vegetable peelings crisps 🥕🥔🍠 (nothing goes to waste here!) and of course they were happily sampled at Happy Hour 🍹😋.

It’s all smiles, laughter and eco-friendly fun as Green Week continues 🌎💚♻️

The Beechwood Grove Ground Force team had an amazing morning at Gildredge House, getting stuck in to transform their outdoor learning spaces! 💪✨

🌿 We cleared and restored their Forest School area
🐸 Created a new wetland habitat with seating for pond dipping
🌱 Prepped the veggie patches ready for winter planting
🐝 Built some bug hotels to boost biodiversity

🌎💚 Eco Week – Day 3 Fun at Beechwood Grove! 💚🌎

What a fabulous Wednesday we’ve had! 😍
We started the morning with our lovely friends from PARCHE who led a special environmental service 🌿✝️ – a perfect way to set the tone for a green and peaceful day.

In between activities, our friends from Recorra South Coast Waste Management popped in to give an eye-opening talk about how waste is handled ♻️🚛 – such a brilliant way to learn more about what happens behind the scenes and how we can all do our bit! 🌍💡

Then it was time to get moving with the magical Jewelled Bird Dance🕊✨ – lots of smiles, gentle stretches and graceful moves all round! 🌸💫

To finish, our residents put their thinking caps on for some eco word games 🧠🌱 … plenty of giggles and friendly competition as we get ready for a busy end to the week! 🎉

🌱 Green Week – Day 2 at Beechwood Grove 🌱

Our residents have been fully embracing Day 2 of Green Week and it’s been a wonderful mix of fun and learning! This morning saw us get our hands dirty with vegetable propagation and spider plant planting, creating little pockets of green for everyone to enjoy. 🌿🥕

We were delighted to welcome Skye from SureCare, who led some brilliant eco-themed arts and crafts – the creativity (and laughter!) flowed all afternoon. 🎨💚

To round off the day, it was eyes down for a special Eco Bingo session – a fun and friendly way to finish our nature-filled day together. 🌎✨

Our Green Week celebrations continue tomorrow – we can’t wait to see what’s next! 🌸🌳

🎁 Our Deputy Manager Abi was all smiles as she received her Manager’s Day gift – a little thank you for everything she does to keep Beechwood Grove feeling like home.

🌿💚 Green Week has officially begun at Beechwood Grove! 💚🌿

Our first day was filled with creativity, connection and a real appreciation for nature. This morning we welcomed Zoe from Nature Makers - East Sussex Coast, who brought along a wonderful collection of natural resources for our residents to get creative with – from leaves and twigs to pinecones and petals. We even had a young guest join us, which made the session extra special! 🌸🍃

In the afternoon, we were delighted to host Changing Chalk, who shared fascinating stories about the history of the South Downs. They also spent time recording some of our residents’ treasured memories as part of a special National Lottery project, ensuring their stories will be remembered for years to come. 🎙️✨

We’re so excited for our Eco Fair on Sunday 28th September, 2:00pm – 4:00pm here at Beechwood Grove Care Home (44–48 E Dean Road, Eastbourne BN20 8EH). It’s going to be a wonderful afternoon filled with:

🎨 Ethical arts & crafts
🛍️ Artisan products
🎶 Live music
🍎 Local produce
☕ Food & drink

Did you like the Beechwood Grove Tomato & Onion Chutney which was in the bistro today?🍅🥄 It was made using the tomatoes lovingly grown by our residents, it’s the perfect taste of our garden in a jar. There maybe a few jars available at the eco fair/

Come along to support our residents’ hard work, pick up something special from the stalls and enjoy a truly green celebration with us. We’d love to see you there! 💚🌎
