Day 11 – Curl up with a good book 📖

Christmas can be so busy. Giving yourself even half an hour to lose yourself in a good book can be a simple yet powerful way to slow everything down. It helps settle the nervous system, softens the edges of the day, and offers a little mental escape when you need it most.

I'll not be reading in my swinging chair today 🥶, more likely be curled up on the sofa in my pyjamas, warm and cosy.

At the moment, I’m reading The Game of Life and How to Play It — a gentle reminder of the power of our thoughts, intentions, and inner dialogue.
If today feels full, consider this your permission slip to pause. Even thirty minutes can make a difference.

✨ CTA: What are you reading at the moment? Or what book always brings you comfort? I’d love to hear.

Day 10 - Creativity

Colouring mandalas is one of my favourite ways to combine creativity and meditation. The intricate patterns have a really calming effect, helping me stay present and quiet my mind. There’s something deeply therapeutic about the process. It reduces my stress and makes me feel more centred.

For me, it’s not just about the art but also about the connection to something bigger, a sense of balance and renewal.

Do you have a favourite way to be creative? I'd love to hear 🖍🎨

I’ve just revisited with plunge bath and barrel at in Thurstaston, and it was the perfect reminder of how powerful cold water therapy can be. When open water isn’t accessible, spaces like this offer such a supportive and nourishing alternative.

Cold water immersion has a beautiful range of benefits. It can help reduce muscle soreness and inflammation, support circulation by encouraging blood vessels to constrict and then reopen, and stimulate the release of endorphins — lifting mood and easing stress. Many people also notice a real boost in alertness and energy as the nervous system responds to the cold. With regular, mindful exposure, it’s even thought to gently strengthen the immune system over time.

A gentle reminder that cold water therapy isn’t recommended if you have heart disease or unmanaged blood pressure — always listen to your body and seek guidance if you’re unsure.

Do you have a favourite place to take a cold plunge, or a way you like to bring a little cold exposure into your day? I highly recommend visiting The Nest in its beautiful surroundings.

Family traditions ❤️

Tonight, we are all gathering to continue our  family tradition of Mutton Pie Night 🥧 This is an Irish tradition passed down from our dad's family and is our favourite night of the whole year. Historacly, it was after midnight mass on Christmas eve, however recently we have it a few days earlier to allow for family travelling.

This is our second year without Dad here. He was always at the centre of it— here he is rolling out the pastry, elbow deep in flour. He always made them when we were growing up, but in recent years, my sisters and I have taken it in turns to make them as the family continues to grow.

While his absence will be deeply felt, this tradition will forever remind us of his love for family, his warmth, and the joy he brought to simple moments. As we sit together tonight, we will honour his memory, keeping him close in every step and every bite.

Do you have a family tradition that helps you stay connected to a loved one who has passed?

If you are struggling with loss, please feel that you can reach out.  Don't be alone ❤️

Take a warm bath with Epsom salts and your favorite essential oil and let your stress melt away.

Epsom salts are great for relaxing your body and mind. When you soak in a warm bath with them, they can ease sore muscles, reduce swelling, and even help with stress. They’re also good for your skin, soothing issues like irritation or dryness. Plus, they’re known to help you sleep better and feel refreshed after a long day.

Select your essential oils to enhance how you would like to feel. For example, peppermint boosts energy, lavender promotes relaxation and better sleep, and rosemary can improve focus and memory. Citrus oils like lemon and orange uplift mood, while eucalyptus clears the mind. Ylang-ylang reduces stress, and frankincense encourages calmness.

I had my bath this morning ( because my shower has a leak and has been ripped out. came to the rescue 🙌 😁 ) I chose eucalyptus oil to set me up for the day.

Do you have a favourite 'go to' essential oil? I'd love to hear 🌿🥀🌺

Day 6 - Breathwork

Different types of breathwork offer a variety of benefits for your mind and body. Simple techniques like deep belly breathing can help you relax, reduce stress, and feel more grounded, while box breathing is great for calming your mind and improving focus. More intense methods like holotropic breathing or the Wim Hof method can boost your energy, help you let go of emotional stress, and build resilience. Techniques like alternate nostril breathing can clear your mind and bring a sense of balance. Overall, breathwork is an easy and powerful way to feel more relaxed, focused, and in tune with yourself.

Have you ever tried breathwork techniques? You can find many examples on YouTube and other SM platforms. Box breathing is one of my favourites, I'd love to hear yours.

Day 5 - Candle meditation. 🕯

I find Candle-lit meditation so soothing and relaxing. The gentle glow of a candle really helps calm my mind.

Staring softly at the flickering flame, known as Trataka, can improve concentration and strengthen the eyes while anchoring the mind to the present moment. This practice encourages deep breathing and introspection, fostering mental clarity and emotional balance. Candle-lit meditation is an effective way to disconnect from distractions, promoting a sense of calm and inner harmony.

Is this something you have tried before? If so,  I'd love to hear how it made you feel

Journaling and reflective practice.

This morning,  I took a few minutes to sit quietly to reflect on what I am grateful for at this time of year.

I'm thankful for the ability to buy gifts for loved ones, food to fill my fridge, and the blessing of family to celebrate with.

It's easy to lose sight of how lucky we are when life feels busy and time is short, but journaling and reflection remind me to focus on what truly matters.

Do you journal or set aside time for reflective practice? I'd love to hear how it impacts your daily life or helps you stay grounded!

I’ve had the most wonderful afternoon at the grand opening of the beautiful Nest Café Bar and The Hot Place Sauna in Thurstaston. ✨
Delicious, nourishing food, thoughtful service, and the deep restorative contrast of a wood-fired sauna and cold plunge — all overlooking the stunning Wirral countryside as the sun set. A beautiful reminder of how powerful it is to slow down, reconnect with nature, and support our wellbeing in simple, intentional ways.

If you’re craving a moment of calm and renewal, this is well worth a visit — do go and check them out.

Practice gentle yoga or stretching.

I love practising gentle yoga, especially at this time of year. I try to do 10 minutes first thing in the morning and 10 minutes before bed. I feel 'bookends' my day in a really nice way and  helps keep me calm, relax my body, and clear my mind.

Do you have any favourite yoga or stretching poses?  Mine are the side twist and child's pose. 🧘‍♀️ 🙏

I’m visiting one of my favourite places, Anglesey, where this photo was taken. Being here always reminds me how powerful nature can be in helping us slow down and reset.

I absolutely love spending time outdoors. Walking in nature helps me clear my mind and gently de-stress. I’ve noticed it improves my focus, sparks creativity, and leaves me feeling refreshed. It’s also a kind, accessible way for me to stay active, and I always sleep better after time outside.

For those who aren’t able to walk easily, simply sitting in nature, listening to the sounds around you, feeling the fresh air on your face, or even looking out over a natural landscape can offer the same sense of calm and connection.

My favourite places are along the coast and amongst woodland. Do you have a place in nature that brings you a sense of peace? I’d love to hear about it — or see a photo if you’d like to share 🌳🍂🌊
