🧘‍♀️ New Community Accessible Yoga at Alston House! 🧘‍♂️

We’re excited to launch Accessible Yoga classes for the local community, starting Monday 16th June at 11am, and continuing every other Monday after that!

These gentle, inclusive one-hour sessions are designed for all abilities and focus on movement, breath, and wellbeing – perfect for older adults, beginners, or anyone looking for a mindful start to the week🌿💙

🏏 Montague House enjoyed Sponsor Day at Brampton Cricket Club.

🏍️ Lovell Place celebrated National Motorcycle Day with a biker visit and bacon butties.

🏖️ Verwood House soaked up the seaside on two sunny day trips.

🌿 Richmond Manor took a trip to Shuttleworth Collection & Swiss Gardens

🧘‍♀️ Cambridge Grove held a peaceful Namaste Care morning full of sensory relaxation.

🎾 Chawley Grove screened the Wimbledon finals in style!

🚗 Cofton Park Manor prepped for their big car show with sweet goody bags.

🎨 Alston House hosted a community art session inspired by the summer sunshine.

🐍 Dorking Manor welcomed a special visitor — Sissy the Corn Snake!

For our Around the World trip this month, we said "Buongiorno" as we headed to Italy!
In the morning, we had a pizza masterclass in the Bistro, making a total of 15 pizzas! In the afternoon we had an Italian themed quiz and opened up the bar featuring Italian drinks Chianti, Gavi and Limoncello. We also enjoyed the pizzas we had mad in the morning! It truly felt like we were all on holiday.

It's wonderful seeing our residents so enthusiastic with their gardening results. We had previously sown lettuce seeds and resident David saw it was "ripe for the picking" and donated it to our kitchen team.

We were joined by Steve Herra and taken on a journey all about the Titanic in our very own Cinema. Steve was engaging, knowledgeable and the residents really enjoyed the presentation, with one resident saying "What an amazing talk, we need to get him back as he does lots of different ones!" We will be welcoming Steve back hopefully for a murder mystery afternoon!

As part of Alston House's ongoing community art project we hosted a community art session. We took inspiration from the positive weather and environment around us and reflected these using watercolours and pastels. This was such a fun, engaging session and the residents really came up with some beautiful creations.

A powerful community art project celebrating creativity, connection, and storytelling through art.

We’re thrilled to be launching this inspiring collaboration with Visit Eastleigh and Daniel Craig Head of Adult Innovation at Hampshire Colleges. Including a range of incredible community contributors – local schools, artists, college students, and care home residents.

Together, we’ll explore art through the lens of dementia and mental health, supporting Solent Mind and bringing people of all ages and backgrounds together to create a visual story of Eastleigh.

🌿 Bringing Nature to Life at Alston House 🌸

Our green-fingered residents at Alston House Care Home have been busy creating a beautiful new ‘wild patch’ garden — part of a local greening campaign to support biodiversity and tackle climate change. 🐝🌼

With support from Elly Swanbrow from the Eastleigh Town Greening Campaign, residents planted foxgloves, teasels, and scattered cornflower seeds — all to help encourage bees, butterflies, and other wildlife into our garden.

This is just the start of a blooming journey, and we’re so proud of everyone for their enthusiasm and care for the environment. 💚

It’s been another week full of fun, sunshine, and unforgettable moments across our homes — here’s just a glimpse of what we’ve been up to:

☀️ Alston House soaked up the sun with the sweet sounds of Little Joe — the perfect soundtrack to a summer afternoon.

🎸 Abbots Wood Manor rocked out in style for National Rock ‘n’ Roll Day with Elvis classics, dancing, and plenty of blue suede shoes!

👒 Brookwater House brought style and smiles to the home with a fabulous Fashion Day, featuring colourful scarves, big hats, stylish sunglasses, and lots of laughter on our very own catwalk!

🐐 Charrington Manor enjoyed a heartwarming trip to Bocketts Farm Park, spending quality time with furry friends and each other.

💦 Cofton Park Manor residents made the most of the warm weather with a relaxing afternoon dipping their feet into paddling pools, enjoying the sunshine, and reminiscing over cherished summer memories.

🐢 Elstow Manor welcomed some exotic visitors thanks to Exotic Animal Encounter — though Amy the tortoise had her own plans to wonder round the home!

🦓 Lovell Place explored the wonders of wildlife with an exciting trip to the Bristol Zoo Project.

🌿 Meryton Place had an incredible morning at Bath City Farm — stunning views, lovely animals, and warm hospitality made it a day to remember.

🦘 Newton House spent the day at Calderglen Park, connecting with nature and enjoying close encounters with king tamarins, wallabies, and more.

✈️ Richmond Manor had a fascinating visit to the Shuttleworth Collection, with resident expert Tony sharing his impressive knowledge of vintage vehicles.

🚗💦 Buckets of Fun & Big Hearts at Upton Manor! 🐾

Residents at Upton Manor Care Home rolled up their sleeves for a fun-filled fundraising car wash, all in support of local animal rescue charity Corbiere Cat Cabin 🐈

Armed with jet washes and big smiles, our residents soaked up the sunshine — and the laughter — while raising money for a cause close to their hearts. Risa, one of our residents, even admitted to ‘accidentally’ spraying a few friends along the way!

Thank you to everyone who donated — and to our residents for showing once again that care, community and kindness go hand in hand 💙

Our Biodanza sessions are just growing and growing, this is our most popular activity at Alston House the residents love it! Malcolm will be joining us this Friday for a drumming session.

Last week we finished off with a fantastic wine tasting afternoon. We samples 4 wines, 2 white and 2 red. We started off with the Italian Pecorino which the residents really enjoyed and preferred it over the Chenin Blanc. Next was the reds and there was a clear winner which was the Spanish Rioja over the Cotes Du Rhone. We finished with a fun wine quiz and some refreshing watermelon to cleanse our palate. A very fun, and informative afternoon. On 17th July we head off to Italy for our around the world trip where we will be sampling Italian wines.

Singing for the brain was an absolute hit! We had a jolly good sing-a-long and a good boogie. Singing for the brain brings people affected by Dementia together to sing a variety of songs they know and love,in a fun and friendly environment. We also engage in in vocal exercises that help improve brain activity and wellbeing.
