HAYFEVER SEASON IS HERE! 🤧🌸

It’s that time of year again… pollen is in the air, and hay fever is ready to make its grand entrance! 😷💨

We know hay fever can be really miserable—itchy eyes, runny nose, sneezes that won’t quit… we get it. But don’t worry, we’ve got some top tips to help you survive the season:

✅ Timing is everything: Avoid going out at dusk & dawn – that’s when pollen loves to party.
✅ Keep pollen out: Close windows, and maybe even put Vaseline around your nostrils!
✅ Shield your eyes: Wraparound sunglasses aren’t just stylish—they’re pollen-proof.
✅ Freshen up: Shower & change clothes after being outside—pollen loves to hitch a ride!
✅ Bedroom hacks: Mist your room with water before bed, vacuum regularly, and think twice about drying clothes outside.
✅ Green thumbs beware: Avoid cutting grass or keeping fresh flowers indoors.

💊 Need extra help? Pharmacists can guide you on:

Antihistamine tablets (Loratadine, Cetirizine…)
Eye drops (Sodium Cromoglycate, Olopatadine…)
Steroid nasal sprays (Beclometasone, Fluticasone…)
💡 Pro tip: Starting steroid nasal sprays a few weeks early can make a huge difference!

Stay sneeze-free and enjoy the season as much as possible! 🌼

🚨 Know the 4Ts. 🚨

Toilet. Thirsty. Tired. Thinner.

These are known as the 4Ts — the key warning signs of type 1 diabetes in children and adults.

If you or your child are:
🚽 Going to the toilet more often than usual
💧 Constantly thirsty
😴 More tired than normal
⚖️ Losing weight without trying

Don’t ignore it.

Type 1 diabetes can develop quickly, and if left undiagnosed, it can become life-threatening. The good news? A simple test from your doctor can check for it.

If you notice any of the 4Ts, contact your GP surgery.

💊PAPER PRESCRIPTIONS💊

A few patients are still requesting paper prescriptions although they should have been phased out several years ago. We are stopping paper prescriptions altogether now to improve safety and efficiency.

Each GP gets 30-150 repeat prescriptions to sign per day and, when signing electronic prescriptions, the notes can be checked before signing to make sure everything is up to date and safe to prescribe. Paper prescriptions take more time to process.

At the pharmacy, paper prescriptions need to be entered manually onto their system which can introduce errors and take more time.

GP surgeries and pharmacies are under pressure, and we need to do anything we can to help safety and efficiency.
