The Passing of a Reflexology Giant

We were deeply saddened to learn from her son Elmer that Hanne Marquardt, a true pioneer in reflexology, has passed away peacefully at the age of 92.

Hanne Marquardt was one of the founding figures of reflexology in Europe. She was instrumental in shaping the profession and expanding its reach across the continent. Through her clinical work and the creation of reflexology schools known for their exceptionally high educational standards, she inspired and trained thousands of practitioners worldwide.

Her legacy will live on in the hearts, hands, and work of countless reflexologists across the globe.

My Story

I started my own business in 2010 after retraining in Complementary therapies but it really began when I was travelling around Australia, New Zealand, China and Thailand - I had decided at the grand age of 43 to pack up my back pack and take to the open roads - I discovered many different types of therapies along the way and my life really changed when I got to my last destination - Thailand - I had already planned and booked onto the Traditional Thai Massage course before I left England and this was my final part of my trip on my very late Gap Year (lol). After several weeks of living in the Thai culture and training in this wonderful treatment I had some big Aha moments - It was so healing to me after I had lost my lovely mum that same year to have the time and space to learn about how this treatment was able to free up my energy (meridian) lines and open me up to my grief and to my self healing capacity. By the end of it I had decided that this was what I wanted to do when I got home and began my new training and life.

It has gone from strength to strength - I have a great passion to share all of the modalities that I have learned over the years and I know from the my own self help practices in Jin Shin Jyutsu (a gentle acupressure/safety energy locks work) and EFT (emotional freedom technique - Tapping on the meridian/energy lines) as well as the wonderful reflexology and aromatherapy massage techniques that I have moved through my own illness of Lupus to be in remission for many years now. It gives me great joy when I can pass on my knowledge and skills as a practitioner to my clients, family and friends and also to aid them on their own journeys to recovery or acceptance - to be, to know themselves and to help themselves too.

I teach self help workshops in JSJ (Jin Shin Jyutsu) and EFT (emotional freedom technique) and I am also a Reiki Master/Teacher
