This question has been very figural in recent sessions for a number of my clients, and it's an interesting one. Simply explained, anxiety will be experienced with a fast pace, an urgency, and a lot of thoughts racing around. Intuition (or instinct) is a felt response and has no urgency to it. Sounds simple, but traumatic or difficult life experiences can muddy the waters in identifying what you are feeling and why. If you'd like to explore the subject more, please do get in touch: hello@curatherapies.co.uk, or explore it with your therapist or supervisor. Alternatively, try listening to yourself, meditating on it, journalling, expressing it creatively to help find some clarity.

One of the best things about being self employed is being able to adapt my role to what I want it to be. Which for me has meant stepping back from EAP short term work (although I still do a little amount), and instead taking on two new roles.
I am really happy to say I am now an under 18's therapist with Start, offering therapeutic support to anyone who has experienced sexual abuse and/or sexual assault, resulting in sexual trauma.
I am also Supervision Lead with Beyond Reflections, which offers therapeutic and practical support to our trans and gender variant communities nationwide.
This is alongside my private therapy, private supervision, supervision for caseworkers with Breakout Youth, supervision for therapists at Community Counselling, running bespoke training courses, and training in Tarot Therapy. It's busy and chaotic juggling everything, but I love the diversity it brings every working day.

Today I'm training some brilliant therapists at Community Counselling on working with clients with neuro diversity. Training therapists is always so engaging!

I have massively neglected my herbal and scent based product making & really missed it. It felt so good to get back into it, and rejuvenated my plans to really bring it into too. Today I was making some cologne bars from beeswax and jojoba oil, and scents used were oud, vanilla and frankincense

I've been busy studying Tarot Therapy & have been finding it to be every part as much a personal journey as a professional one. It's challenged me hugely, and in a different way to my training journey and my personal therapy. But that challenge continues to be ultimately great, I'm finding myself more as a whole person - emotionally, mentally, spiritually, personally and professionally.

I am off for a very very much needed break. I won't be checking any social media or email etc whilst I'm away, but will reply to anything as soon as I'm back.

I'm busy writing some training on neurodiversity, and rather than just pulling on text books, would love personal experiences to help shape the programme. What are your experiences of neurodiversity - the main ways it impacts you, the challenges you face, the assumptions that neurotypical people make of you?

My auntie sent me this quote over the weekend, and it really spoke to me. It's a beautifully worded reminder of allowing nature and the natural world around us to soothe our minds, bodies and souls. It also serves as a reminder of all we can learn from the natural world if we just take some time to listen and look.

There have been some concerning comments made recently by government officials pertaining to therapy and therapists (particularly those in private practice). Stephen Kinnock MP, Minister of State for Care stated that the 'unregulated private sector' of therapists is contributing to an 'overdiagnosis' of mental health conditions. Psychotherapists and counsellors cannot and do not diagnose. The private sector is also not unregulated as he claims. The vast majority of therapists hold memberships with organizations such as the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society or the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy which means we adhere to their Code of Ethics and professional standards. These in turn are overseen by the Professional Standards Authority.
If you do have any worries, or questions about the governance around therapy, or what it does, how it works, how therapists work and what they do, please do ask. Feel free to ask me, or go to the NCPS, BACP or UKCP websites where there is a plethora of useful information.

Sometimes nature has the answers!
Seriously though, sometimes it does... take some time to go outside, breath deeply, take your shoes off and feel the earth under your feet.

Today I've started my Introduction to Tarot Therapy course. I'm so excited to be on this journey, both personally and professionally. I've wanted to train in this for some time, and so happy that I am now embarking on the process to bring tarot into my therapeutic practice. I'll be posting about this regularly, so if you're intrigued and have any questions, please do ask anything!

Sometimes hope and strength shines brightly and intensely from within. Other times it feels like the flame is diminished, or at risk of being blown out, and in those times it's utterly fine to lean on those around you to help protect your flame, and to carry your hope for you if you need them to. That can be loved ones, or it can be turning to a professional for support, or it can be both. You're never on your own, even when the flame is very small and the darkness feels huge. If you need to talk, to have some support, please reach out. Here's my email address... hello@curatherapies.co.uk
