I have massively neglected my herbal and scent based product making & really missed it. It felt so good to get back into it, and rejuvenated my plans to really bring it into too. Today I was making some cologne bars from beeswax and jojoba oil, and scents used were oud, vanilla and frankincense

I've been busy studying Tarot Therapy & have been finding it to be every part as much a personal journey as a professional one. It's challenged me hugely, and in a different way to my training journey and my personal therapy. But that challenge continues to be ultimately great, I'm finding myself more as a whole person - emotionally, mentally, spiritually, personally and professionally.

I'm busy writing some training on neurodiversity, and rather than just pulling on text books, would love personal experiences to help shape the programme. What are your experiences of neurodiversity - the main ways it impacts you, the challenges you face, the assumptions that neurotypical people make of you?

My auntie sent me this quote over the weekend, and it really spoke to me. It's a beautifully worded reminder of allowing nature and the natural world around us to soothe our minds, bodies and souls. It also serves as a reminder of all we can learn from the natural world if we just take some time to listen and look.

There have been some concerning comments made recently by government officials pertaining to therapy and therapists (particularly those in private practice). Stephen Kinnock MP, Minister of State for Care stated that the 'unregulated private sector' of therapists is contributing to an 'overdiagnosis' of mental health conditions. Psychotherapists and counsellors cannot and do not diagnose. The private sector is also not unregulated as he claims. The vast majority of therapists hold memberships with organizations such as the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society or the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy which means we adhere to their Code of Ethics and professional standards. These in turn are overseen by the Professional Standards Authority.
If you do have any worries, or questions about the governance around therapy, or what it does, how it works, how therapists work and what they do, please do ask. Feel free to ask me, or go to the NCPS, BACP or UKCP websites where there is a plethora of useful information.

Sometimes nature has the answers!
Seriously though, sometimes it does... take some time to go outside, breath deeply, take your shoes off and feel the earth under your feet.

Today I've started my Introduction to Tarot Therapy course. I'm so excited to be on this journey, both personally and professionally. I've wanted to train in this for some time, and so happy that I am now embarking on the process to bring tarot into my therapeutic practice. I'll be posting about this regularly, so if you're intrigued and have any questions, please do ask anything!

Sometimes hope and strength shines brightly and intensely from within. Other times it feels like the flame is diminished, or at risk of being blown out, and in those times it's utterly fine to lean on those around you to help protect your flame, and to carry your hope for you if you need them to. That can be loved ones, or it can be turning to a professional for support, or it can be both. You're never on your own, even when the flame is very small and the darkness feels huge. If you need to talk, to have some support, please reach out. Here's my email address... hello@curatherapies.co.uk

I talk a lot with clients about the concept of the dawning of a new year - about resolutions versus goals, hopes, aims. I personally am not too big on the word resolution as I feel an implied pressure, and an idea of success and failure. Last year was a hard ride for me for many reasons, so this year I have a goal - to create more moments where I smile as genuinely as I am in this photo. It's a photo (insert cringe warning here) which I sent to my husband to show him how his love makes me feel. I don't want to take things that give me such joy for granted, and I want to focus more this year on embracing those, and taking time for them, to experience more of what makes me really happy, from my head to my toes. It can be hard to do this when life is hitting you a bit with difficulties, but it's doable, and perhaps even more important than ever in these times.

Please look after yourselves and each other over the festive period. Reach out to people as well as sharing lists of useful phone numbers etc, as not all people can make that call.
I will respond to any contacts in the new year. Solstice blessings to you all.

It was Men's Mental Health Awareness Month in November, and it's great that we have a month where we really highlight this major issue. But it's also important to remember we need to talk about talking about it throughout the year. Ask your male friends and family how they are - how they really are.
