Educational Evening
Patients of Park and St Francis Surgery and Fryern Surgery are welcome to attend a free Health Information evening:

Tuesday 14 April 2026, 6.15 for 6.30 – 7.30 pm

at St Francis Church, Pilgrim Close, Valley Park

(behind the Cleveland Bay pub)

Dr Steve Allen will give a presentation on Prostate Health

This session is especially for men over 50 and their partners

Thanks to Sir Chris Hoy and others, more folk are now aware of Prostate Cancer. Steve Allen is a doctor who’s been on the prostate cancer journey too. He’s on a mission to raise awareness, give information, aid understanding and lobby for screening more men. Early identification is critical for survival.

It’s a rather individual journey – both medically and emotionally. Dr Allen will explain the basic anatomy, the symptoms, treatments and implications. He’ll unveil all the issues and confront the myths that bedevil this subject.

There will also be information on the various charities - Prostate UK, PCaSO and Tackle, as well as organisations like Wessex Cancer, who offer a variety of supporting therapies to complete all-round treatment

March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. The symptoms of ovarian cancer can be vague, and can be linked to other less serious conditions. See your doctor if you have changes that are unusual for you or won't go away. In most cases, it won’t be cancer, but if it is, getting diagnosed early can make all the difference.

A simple conversation could help save someone’s life.

If you spot someone who doesn’t look OK. Small, soft questions can be a gentle way in - they interrupt the cycle of thoughts without pressuring or overwhelming someone. They can help someone shift a little inside and engage with the world outside of their thoughts
