Our new website has gone live today. An awful lot of thought and many hours of work have gone into trying to create a site which is helpful and reassuring to those who are facing bereavement.

Thank you to the Mansfield Chad for sharing the news about our support for the Revive Counselling & Wellbeing CIC's new Haven Bereavement Group sessions in .

We know how hard it is for people to access help at such a difficult time in their lives, which means having somewhere to go and chat can act like a lifeline.

This year our Christmas tree appeal is raising money for Treetops Hospice, whose staff have played such a huge part in the lives of the families we work with over the years.

The hospice, based in Risley, offers specialist nursing and emotional support in people’s own homes, helping those with life-limiting conditions stay comfortable and supported where they choose to be.

For every message that is left on the branches of our Christmas trees - at our Eastwood, Selston, Stapleford, Kimberley and Heanor funeral homes - we will donate £1 to Treetops.

Just a reminder that it's our Christmas Memorial Service at St Mary's Church, Greasley tomorrow at 3.00 p.m. . Everyone is welcome to join us and light a candle in memory of a loved one. We'll be taking the names of those you're there to remember at the door, so no need to let us know in advance.

If you're able to bring a flower with you, Options Florist will be there to transform them into beautiful tributes during the service.

Our trees are filling up nicely with your messages, but we're delighted to have brought a new tree to the Gillotts party - a Christmas tree at the entrance to St John The Baptist Church in .

It's our contribution to the village's Christmas Tree Festival, but there's something else - because it has water-proof labels for anyone who wants to leave a message to a loved one while they're there.

So that's SIX trees where you can leave your message - alongside our funeral homes in Heanor, Stapleford, Selston, Eastwood and Kimberley!

From today, all of our funeral homes - , , , and - will have their Christmas trees in place as our 2025 Christmas Remembrance Appeal gets properly under way.

Anybody who has lost a loved one during the year is welcome to visit their nearest Gillotts funeral home and write a message in their memory and hang it on the tree.

In return, we will donate £1 for every message to our chosen charity, which this year is Treetops Hospice.

We know that Christmas isn't easy if you're missing someone dear, so please don't be shy about coming in - we'd love to see you.

Congratulations to Valley CIDS for such an amazing Silver Celebration black tie fundraiser at Morley Hayes last week.

We were delighted to be invited along as one of a number of sponsors for the event, which was held to raise money for the new Turner Farm Big Build Project, an ambitious plan to create a purpose built vocational learning centre at Turner Farm.

The farm is now a centre for vocational learning and community connection, where more than 1,000 young people
young people who have disengaged from, or are facing challenges to, accessing mainstream education have gained confidence, qualifications and hope.

We hope our sponsorship will help Valley CIS to help many more young people in the future - and thank you again for a great night!

Our Christmas memorial tree appeal has become a part of the build up to the festive season so it was lovely to see some familiar faces when our office launched its appeal on Saturday.

Within minutes, our beautiful Christmas tree was covered in messages of remembrance for loved ones and we kept the tea, coffee and wine flowing for our steady supply of guests!

We hope taking time out to pen a message for a beloved friend or family member will bring comfort to our visitors - and don't forget, that for every message left on one of our trees, we will donate £1 to our chosen charity, which this year is Treetops Hospice.

We've already had a few early visitors at the Eastwood lights switch on to say hello and put their messages on the Memorial Tree - lots of free snacks and hot drinks available. Please pop in - we'd love to see you.

Tomorrow is lights switch-on day at both Eastwood and Heanor, so we we'll be open for the launch of our Christmas Memorial Trees

At Eastwood we'll be open from 4pm - 6pm, and at Heanor from 5pm - 7pm. Everyone is welcome to drop in and write their messages for the tree and also to enjoy hot and cold refreshments with us. It will be lovely for us to catch up with families we have cared for, both recently and over the years. It also gives us chance to change out of our formal-wear and show off our Christmas Jumpers!

If you can't make it on the night of the switch-on you are welcome to pop in to either office 10 - 4 Monday - Friday or on Saturday mornings at Eastwood until the end of December to place your message on the tree.
