We’re giving you more! From the 1st of June we’ll now be open every day 3am-11pm, giving you more time to make use of our brand new facilities!

We’ve got more equipment on order, due in any week now. We’ve added more classes the last month. And we’re still looking at how to give you more!

From this, new memberships will be increasing only by an extra £2 for each level and day passes will now be £8. Again, this is for NEW memberships only - all existing will stay the same.

Let us know what more you want us to give!

** Why do we have bank holidays? **

The May bank holidays carry many traditions and celebrate changes such as ‘Workers Rights’. Reducing working days to 8 hour days.

The first May bank holiday was also put in to give farmers a rest day before the summer season.

The team at Overloaded have worked so hard all year but this half term has been particularly busy. Assessments, exams, transitions and great sales in the shop.

They will be having a rest over the half term break. This will give a boost of energy for the last half term of the academic year!

The Gift shop will be open Thurs, Fri and Saturday through next week.

We hope you all have a lovely bank holiday and rest. Thank you for your support.

** Mental Health Awareness Week**

We wore green today to raise awareness of how important it is to take care of our mental health.

🔥 if you Overload a socket, it will catch fire.

🚚 if you Overload a van, it moves slower.

🫟 if you Overload a cup, it will spill.

🏋️‍♂️ if you Overload weights, you can not lift them.

But…..

🧠 what happens when you Overload you brain?

* your emotions change
* your patience gets shorter
* your nervous system gets rewired
* your thoughts get unclear
* your body hurts
* your movement slows
* your senses change
* your sleep gets disturbed
* your regulation becomes unmaneagable
* your thought process blurred
* your communication broken
* your rational response blocked
* your eating habits affected

The list goes on….

There is a reason our provision is called ‘ Overloaded.’

Many will look after physical health; mental health becomes harder to understand however just as important.

** Level 1 Cycle, maintenance and repair Qualification**

As the young people come to the end of completing their units and qualifications, the cycle unit has been a real success.

Learning how to maintain a bike, ensure it is safe and how to fix a puncture, saddle or brake repairs ensure they have the life skills in the community.

Next stop Driving theory 🚴🏼‍♀️👁️🚗🚙

** Fathers Day**

Looking for a unique Father’s Day gift, birthday, new baby or new home gift?? ~ We can help!!!

1 Fishers Yard in St Neots just off the new market square hosts gifts made by 40 local artists/ crafters.

Each crafter supports our Not for Profit organisation, The Overloaded Alternative Provision. The shop is run by young people, learning employment and community skills.

Profits go towards the learning SENtre and our outside spaces that provide Academic, SEMH and Employment skills for young people.

🎨🥸 Creative Studies Level 1 🎨🥸

The creative group have been working hard, researching local history, artefacts and art techniques.

Final pieces have been started, they look great- looking forward to see the final pieces.

🌞😎 Suns out, Stocks out 😎🌞

The Post 16 group worked hard this week in the shop.
They have made new displays, moved the stock around and proved new items.

We limit the number of local crafters we stock for, this ensures all have a chance of sales each month. We also move stock around based on retail theory and knowledge.

Pop in today and tomorrow to see these changes and new stock.

The shop will be closed for bank holiday Monday. Open as usual thereafter.

👨🏼‍💼👩🏾‍🍳 School memories 👩🏾‍🍳👨🏼‍💼

School memories are not always positive when discussed with young people, however lunch times are often a good talking point.

Do you remember chocolate toothpaste tart? (Our young people are too young.) they were intrigued by the Bedfordshire delight.

So today we made it… tomorrow the taste it.

I wonder what the senses will say…
