🚨 Sepsis is a life-threatening condition caused by the immune system overreacting to an infection or injury. Knowing the symptoms can save lives.

A child may have sepsis if they are:
· Breathing very fast
· Have a ‘fit’ or convulsion
· Look mottled, bluish, or very pale
· Have a rash that does not fade when you press it
· Are very lethargic or difficult to wake
· Feel abnormally cold to touch

In adults, look out for:
· Slurred speech or confusion
· Extreme shivering or muscle pain
· Passing no urine (in a day)
· Severe breathlessness
· It feels like you’re going to die
· Skin mottled or discoloured

⚠️ Suspect sepsis? Act fast. Seek medical help immediately. Call 999 or head to the Emergency Department at Grange University Hospital.

If you’re worried about an infection but don’t suspect sepsis, call 111.

📅 Appointment slots will begin from 1st October, and patients will start receiving their invitation letters shortly.

📣 Important Update: Prebookable Appointments Now Easier to Access!

Following feedback from our most recent Patient Experience Questionnaire, we understand that many of you felt the wait for prebookable appointments was too long. We’ve listened and made changes to improve access.

With effect from Wednesday 17th September 2025 at 10 am and every Wednesday thereafter, we will be releasing our GP prebookable appointments for the following week.

You can book in the following ways:

📞 Phone: Call the practice from 10am
🏥 Visit: Come into the practice from 10am
📱 Online: Use the NHS Wales App from 10am
🌐 Website: Submit a request via our online form (requests via the online form can be submitted from 7am for ease of access around working hours) www.glanrhydsurgery.co.uk

We hope this makes it easier and quicker for you to get the care you need.

Same day emergency appointments requests will remain unchanged.

Flu can pose a serious threat to children and young people. To get your child aged 2-3 immunised, parents will be contacted to offer an appointment when these are due, however if you have any concerns, you can call your GP practice.

In some areas your child will receive their nasal spray in a nursery setting.

A huge thank you to our Hospital Discharge Support Worker, Laura for the support she provided to a client, they appreciated the help so much and provided this feedback.

Our Hospital Discharge Service supports older adults returning back into their community after a stay in hospital. Our staff provide key support, actively promoting the wellbeing of older people and providing practical and emotional support to allow them to resettle and remain living independently in their own homes, in their own communities.
