PRESS was formed in July 1991 by Paul Sweeney and Dennis Eady, to provide accommodation and support to individuals with learning disabilities, supporting their resettlement into local communities. Services provided are based on clear principles and we hold firm our belief that all individuals, whatever their diagnosis, can with the right support and housing be assisted to manage their own lives and become valued members of the communities in which they live. In the 30 years since PRESS was opened, we have continued to develop our portfolio of services, expanding the range of individuals to whom we are able to offer support and building positive working relationships with many local authorities. The day to day operations of the business are now overseen by the Managing Director and Responsible Individual, Mr Stephen Smothers, an employee of the company since 1992. We currently provide residential services via two homes in Nelson and Tir-y-berth, as well as four self contained flats in Trecynon. We also provide as shared supported living service in Caerphilly and a number of community based services to individuals under domiciliary and day opportunities arrangements. As such we now provide services to the local authorities of Caerphilly, Cardiff, Blaenau Gwent, Merthyr, and RCT, as well as to a range of individuals with whom we hold private arrangements; providing support to those with physical and learning disabilities, mental health related conditions and sensory impairment. We remain open to further development whatever this may look like, providing that the potential exists both practically and financially for any service to have a real benefit to those for whom support is to be provided. PRESS has and will always remain a local company, with our main offices based in Ebbw Vale continuing to welcome enquiries from anyone who may have a need for the services we offer or those individuals who wish to seek employment with a long standing employer in the social care sector.
