This time last year I was so nervous about opening up a brand new social club so many things to consider. Risk assessments, insurance, Dbs checks, training, the perfect place, activities, volunteers the list goes on. Thinking in my mind id be happy if ten individuals turn up not knowing that in a years time our club has grown and we have 30 odd individuals! Our first birthday is next month and wow!! We have had some amazing people come in to provide activists, we have had our first Christmas party, first phabs award and phabs got talent, first Easter party and much more. Believe it or not when I was 17 years old I started volunteering with no confidence, anxiety and depression hit me at one point quite bad. now 31 with my own club. My baby as I call it.
People ask why I do it? How do I do it? It's a massive passion for me, individuals with any kind of additional needs have always had a massive place in my heart. Helping others seeing people thrive and smile seeing confidence build and gaining independence. I'm forever thinking outside the box thinking of ideas. If I can help anyone I will.
